Didn’t the same court tell JoeB to stop w the student loan cancellations . That it wasn’t his decision to make ? Did HE listen ?

I'm surprises that only 17% think the president can ignore the court. I expected higher.

President should have the power to enact or repeal a law. Justices are supposed to follow and uphold, especially in a democracy. President is elected by the people, justices are not. If justices are superior, then there is no need for elections and Even a president.

The constitution States for those born to citizens only. Not for foreigners. President has the right to protect the nation if the constitution is misinterpreted and abused.
FYI, I am not in US or its citizen. You already quoted only an amendment to a constitution. Which means further amendment can be passed if needed.

Sorry all I’m out now that the admins have issued the censorship threat. @in10RjFox @beckyromero @trollslayer @SunshineGirl
Unless the issue has to do with student loan forgiveness. That can be circumvented despite the Supreme Court decision. Just ask Nancy Pelosi about that .

@soar2newhighs If you look into the details of Bush's PSLF, you'll see some categories of student loans fall under it; others don't. HINT: the words "public service" are in the title.
SCOTUS stopped the original broad cancellation, but other targeted cancellations went thru. All legal and above board.
Oh, speaking of loan forgiveness, did it trouble you when Trump added $734 billion in PPP loan forgiveness to taxpayer's debt? Or do you agree with free money to business owners??
During the first tRump admin, 10.2 million Paycheck Protection Program loans were forgiven or partially forgiven. With average forgiveness $72,000, that works out to $734 billion in loan forgiveness subsidies to business owners. Compare that with student loan forgiveness, a $300 billion program.

@soar2newhighs That program arbitrarily cancelled a certain amount of debt using "emergency powers" clause due to COVID. The court said that was a stretch, stuck it down, and Biden complied.
The additional loan forgiveness was due to pre-existing laws that the Biden Admin streamlined. PSLF is one - the law has existed for a while, but the Dept of Ed was not approving many applications based on technicalities, such as being on an incorrect repayment program (through no fault of the borrower).

Roman Emperors were above the law too, and they had many fanboys.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@helenS and Christianity changed that perception how?
helenS · 36-40, F
@newjaninev2 Christianity has always, from the beginning, seen homosexuality as a sin against nature. You can sin in accordance with nature (= cheating) and against nature.

@specman Look at the year. Look at the president’s name. Now pick up a history book…
@trollslayer what do you mean?
jackjjackson · 70-79, M
The President agrees. Why the trolling? You’re embarrassing yourself yet again.

What president have I name called? @beckyromero

You've said plenty about Biden (and I believe Carter, too).
But in any case, I don't want SW to turn into some camp fire where we all sit around and sing Kumbaya.
And I suspect neither do you.
There is nothing wrong with a robust, healthy debate.
What's next? Saying that calling Hitler a war criminal is against the TOS because he was never convicted as one?
