Is the USA entering another 'RED SCARE' scenario i.e. firing gov't employees on suspicion only?

That history repeats itself is a worthy watchphrase that allows 'people' - especially governments to refer back to what happened so as not to repeat the same mistakes. However, without that 'due diligence' of determining what errors were committed and just forging ahead in an uncharted and haphazard manner, much harm can be done: The article here talks about what happened in the 1950s when the US government closed it's mind and opened the doors of its institutions and literally kicked innocent people out into the street.

@BrandNewMan asks
Who was fired without reason given ?

The headlines say thousands at USAID alone.

Then there's the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Trump administration targets CFPB, halting work and funding
https://fox2now.com/news/national/were-about-to-get-annihilated-musk-doge-descend-on-consumer-bureau/amp/
What does the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau do for US citizens? It helps consumers with loan overcharges, interest withheld, and other misdeeds by large financial institutions.
The agency says that, since its inception, it's helped consumers to the tune of $21 billion through monetary compensation, loan principal reductions, canceled debt and more.

And thousands more at Dept of Education are on the chopping block. And we're less than three weeks into this admin!

What is happening is long overdue
On the contrary, what is happening is in violation of the law, in particular spending bills passed by Congress and signed by the President. Remember, the Constitution gives Congress the power of the purse. Not Tяump, not 卐LON, but Congress.

USAID money, CFPB money, and all other government agencies are funded year by year with budget bills passed by Congress, signed by presidents. These bills have the force of law. When a president swears to faithfully uphold the laws of the land, the laws include budget bills.

@ElwoodBlues So you support spending $2 million for Moroccan pottery classes?
@sunsporter1649 The question was about government employees being fired. Why are you so desperate to change the subject??

sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues Whoever signed off on spending $70,000 for a DEI musical in Ireland deserves to be fired
@sunsporter1649 DUUUDE!!! 卐LON is firing thousands, without figuring out who signed what. Where's the justice in that???

Also, if you're so worried about $70,000 for a musical, why aren't you concerned about spending $15-$20 million of taxpayer money so Tяump can attend half a superbowl?? What kind of "efficiency" example are they setting??
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues LOL, justice like saying Mar-A-Lago is worth $18,000,000? Or some other justice?
@sunsporter1649 Ducking the question and changing the subject, right sunstroke!!!

@ElwoodBlues They can join the over 70,000 that don't want to work for the Federal Government and are taking the buyout
@sunsporter1649 The whole point, ijit, is that they weren't offered a buyout.

AND. USAID money, CFPB money, and all other government agencies are funded year by year with budget bills passed by Congress, signed by presidents. These bills have the force of law. When a president swears to faithfully uphold the laws of the land, the laws include budget bills.

@ElwoodBlues You mean usaid did not spend $1 million to help disabled people in Tajikistan become climate leaders against the wishes of congress?
@sunsporter1649 Look who's STILL desperate to change the subject🤣😂

@ElwoodBlues You mean usaid did not spend $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam against the wishes of congress?

@ElwoodBlues You mean usaid did not spend $1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia's workplaces against the wishes of congress! No wonder they get fired, imagine ignoring the will of the people
@ElwoodBlues RAMPANT WASTE, MISMANAGEMENT OF FUNDS AND CORRUPTION .. REASONS WERE GIVEN !!
@BrandNewMan What corruption?? If the law was broken, then give us specific examples.

What exactly does the current USAID funding bill say?? Do any of the funded items violate the law as laid down in that funding bill? Your moral outrage is useless here; it's a question of LAW.

Waste? You know the old saw: one man's trash is another man's treasure. Did current USAID funding bill prohibit that kind of spending or not? Again, check your moral outrage at the door and address the only meaningful question.

P.S. Just because 卐LON used those words doesn't mean he's telling the truth. 卐LON has spent the last TEN YEARS telling people his cars would have have full self driving "next year." After ten years of lies from the man, only a fool would expect unalloyed truth!!

@ElwoodBlues Figures you would approve spending $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues "Sunstroke" I like that.... the guy(??) hasn't put in a word of truth or common sense (even) since she showed up on here. @sunsporter1649 = total TROLL!

@sunsporter1649 NO.... was it you who sent them?
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@BrandNewMan anyone can say that. Doesn’t mean it’s all accurate. And who’s to determine what’s waste? What’s important to one is not to another. Few would argue efficiency is a good thing. Wiping out entire agencies is not the same. If you’re comparing it to a company, it’s like going out of business. Rarely celebrated!

@ElwoodBlues It's the standard Maga tactic, which demonstrates they have lost the argument.
