'America First': Largest steel producer in US announces support of Trump tariffs

FIRST ON FOX: The CEO of the largest steel producer in the U.S., Nucor Corp., endorsed President Donald Trump's tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, Fox News Digital learned.

"Nucor applauds the first steps taken by President Trump in his America First Trade Agenda," Leon J. Topalian, the chair, president and CEO Nucor Corp., wrote in a statement dated Friday that was obtained by Fox News Digital. "We look forward to working with President Trump to enforce our trade laws and strengthen American manufacturing!"

The subject line of the letter reads, "Presidential Executive Orders on Canada, Mexico, and the People’s Republic of China."

The company's CEO recently joined CNBC's Jim Cramer and celebrated Trump's then-upcoming tariffs as tools to end "currency manipulation" and the "subsidization" of steel coming to the U.S. from abroad.

"We saw the memo last Monday on tariffs and what they're going to do," Topalian said Tuesday. "And I think they're going to be far-reaching, and I think they're going to be very broad to, again, stop the illegal dumping, the manipulation, currency manipulation and subsidization of steels coming into the shores of the U.S."

I remember when the Democrats BEGGED Reagan to do the same thing in the 80s to save Bethlehem Steel from foreign importers ripping off this country and violating trade law. His refusal almost made him out to be a libertarian.

Trump saves MORE American jobs and holds the world accountable for its attempts to rip us off.

Ah, the super-rich CEO of a major corporation likes Trump’s tariffs. Is that supposed to make me like them too?

Frankly I'd value the opinion of a steel corporation CEO (who creates more jobs than DemoNazis could ever imagine) over someone like you, who basically serves up fries every day.

@Reason10 Nazis are right-wing, and according to the 2024 NAEP & other factors, Mass, Conn, & NJ have the best schools in the nation. Fla ain't in the top ten!!

Tallahassee, Fla., May 7, 2024 – Today, U.S. News & World Report announced that Florida is again ranked #1 in the nation for education. The publication’s Best State ranking is based on a combination of strong performances in higher education and K-12 metrics.

“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida again ranks number one in education,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “By focusing on core academic subjects and excellence in the classroom, Florida stands ahead of the rest.”

Also announced today, Florida ranked #1 in the Parent Power Index by the Center for Education Reform. The assessment focuses on alternative pathways and educational choices that parents and students have access to beyond traditional public schools.

Any idiot can produce graphics. Florida has the best schools in the country.
@Reason10 DUUUDE!! You got PLAYED!!
Your quote is from the Florida website. Go to the actual USNews website and you'll see:

Higher Education . . . #1
Pre-K-12 . . . . . . . . . #10

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/florida
AND, that #1 rating is based debt at graduation from state colleges. You got PLAYED!!

BTW, Anybody can produce text. Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey have the best schools in the country as measured by NAEP.

A major indicator of Florida's failing schools is the vast shortage of teachers, even though Gov DeSantis lowered eligibility requirements such that not every teacher even needs a college degree.

Poor Florida just can't get teachers, SAD!!
