Ranking the Presidents...

In my lifetime..

1. Joseph Biden
2. George H. W. Bush (someone else might have really screwed up the end of the Cold War; he didn't)
3. George W. Bush
4. Ronald Reagan (downgraded because of his domestic policies; kudos for handling the Soviets and strengthening the Navy)
5. Bill Clinton (too many missed opportunities)
6. Barack Obama (see #5; way too much focus on ACA; no party building which helped lead to #7)
7. Donald Trump

I don’t recognize the GOP at all. I grew up in the Deep South and this may explain why I’m strongly polarized against the GOP. I met Johnson and Carter.

What did you think of the movie, "Path to War"?

TheShanachie · 61-69, M
@beckyromero it has been a long time since I watched it so I’ll review it. I know Johnson had issues and honestly I’m probably biased since I got to meet him as a child. He was extremely pale especially with the black suit, black tie and white shirt, typical mid 1960s attire. The secret service routed him through the small airport in the Georgia town I lived in and he allowed children only to meet him at the runway.

4. Carter post Presidency and all around neat guy.
5. Nixon
6. LBJ
7. Clinton who would have been much higher if not for his obvious philandering.
8. Bush 41
Huge huge gap here between 8&9
9. Bush 43
10. Reagan. He gave himself glory he didn’t deserve and hurt the impoverished.
11. Prefer not to name him.

@Pfuzylogic

So are you prefering not to name 38 or 45/47?
Pfuzylogic · M
@beckyromero
My mistake. How could I forget Gerald Ford. 😅
Put him somewhere in the huge gap.

@beckyromero Big Schultz fan. Now that’s a Secretary of State.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Bumbles

I was surprised to learn that Schultz opposed Reagan challenging Gorbachev to "Tear down this wall" in the speech Reagan gave in Berlin.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@beckyromero I guess that’s why Reagan was the President and not Schultz!
