Do u believe DEI should be banned in the USA 🇺🇸

It stands for Diversity Equity Inclusion.
This is not a quota program.
It's a program that endorses businesses to hire people
who would otherwise not be hired. And yes they must be qualified. This includes gender and religion and the disabled. As of right now this program has been discontinued. There are some who feel that DEI has nullified skill. It overlooks the qualifed. And promotes discrimination.
Do you believe that DEI should be banned.🚫

Too many responses to read them all - but my take:

I have no problem with DEI so long as it does not lower the qualifications for certain jobs in order for people to get hired. Nor do I want to see unqualified people hired for important jobs. At the same time, I don't want private companies to be forced to hire people they would not otherwise hire. As long as they are complying with existing anti-discrimination laws, I won't complain.

DEI recognizes that certain, qualified candidates have been passed over for decades and still happens to this day. For example - two candidates that both meet the standard for an open job, but the hiring manager hires the one that celebrates Christmas over the one who celebrates Ramadan. In some cases, the more qualified person may be passed over for being, for example, transgender because the hiring manager feels uncomfortable.

But as I stated above, as long as candidates are meeting job qualifications, I have no issues with DEI.

@trollslayer You sound like you're caught in a dilemma, but you speak the truth. 😅

@trollslayer We do not need DEI. What we need is civilized people. 👍

@trollslayer Sounds like you're struggling with your answer there. DEI is anti discrimination. That's what it is supposed to be about. It's harder to prove you are overlooked for a job that you are qualified for than one you are hired based soley on race. 🤔

@maskedbandit I haven't heard stories of unqualified people being hired because of DEI rules. I only hear complaints of "more qualified", implying that unqualified people are not being hired.

Take the LAFD for example. I've heard that they hired unqualified people because of DEI rules who were incapable of fighting fires. I have seen no proof of this. I have seen proof of LAFD being underfunded for years and asking for more resources. That has nothing to do with DEI programs.

@trollslayer Well then 🤷‍♂

@Zonuss Might sound like it, but my main point is that DEI definitely should not be banned because there is no basis to say that unqualified people are being hired as firefighters, pilots, etc, or that any private company is being forced to have such DEI programs - those being the only reasons I see for any law regulating/restricting DEI programs.

Basically the argument from the MAGA folks is simple bigotry.
