Trump says he will annex Canada.

Here in Canada the media is clutching its pearls doing 'man on the street' interviews filtering out all but the "I LOVE Canada' crowd. Funnily enough when I talk to Canadians about it I get a huge 'meh'. Most just don't care one way or another. Yes there are those who are very strong anti American merger but they are pretty much balanced out by the very strong pro American merger. Strange how Trudeau has completely destroyed the cohesiveness of Canada.

So true!! National pride is slipping away!!

Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
Anything is better than having Trudeau "mini-Fidel" as Canadian Prime Minister. Some liberal member of the Canadian Parliament warned the US that Canada will annex California, Oregon and Washington state. To be honest, give us Alberta, Yukon, Saskatchewa or British Columbia, and we have a deal!!! 🇨🇦🇺🇸
@Barefooter25 I wonder if that was the same Canadian PM who wanted to sue the US over the American Revolution as a reaction to Helms-Burton 🤔
When other folks talk about loving their country, the media says its beautiful........ when Americans do it, we are called "Ugly nationalists". gotta love the double standard.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@YourMomsSecretCrush Trudeau said that Canada was the first post national state. Well guess what happens when you refuse to be? You get taken over by someone who does want to be.
@hippyjoe1955 dude managed to turn the just about the whole country against him, including many in his own party.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@YourMomsSecretCrush He has been a complete and utter disaster. I don't think it is even possible to measure or describe the damage he did to Canada.
Trudeau called himself a fighter and less than a few minutes later resigned. Not exactly a fighter mentality.

I dont see Camada becoming part of the U.S., I think Trump is saying whatever to cause the media and dems to spin.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@TallMtnMedic Trudeau really didn't resign. He is still leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and is still the Prime Minister of Canada. He only said he would resign when the Liberal Party elects a new leader. Just as a side note anyone in the world of any age can vote for the Liberal Leader of Canada and should the Liberals cheat their way into office again that leader elected by a 13 year old from China would be Prime Minister.
@hippyjoe1955 I saw he wasnt leaving until there was someone elected. Interesting though that he decided it, I didnt think his ego would let him.

@BritishFailedAesthetic No actually the young woman with two kids is very anti Russian. So you are wrong again. The Grandmother I spoke about is Russian. She married a Ukrainian fellow and moved to Odessa before he died. She then moved in with her daughter in Kiev before the fled to Poland then to Canada with the daughters three kids.
@hippyjoe1955 Well, I wouldn't tell the young woman about your Putin boot kissing then.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic You can if you want. I won't mind and neither will she. She is in Canada for a reason. It is not just about Russia. BTW I spent last evening in a Bible study with a Russian. We didn't discuss the war in Ukraine. Another friend of mine is from Russia. He left it during the terrible times of the USSR. He is a doctor and was sent abroad as a medical ambassador of the Soviet Union. While in Africa he met some Mennonites from Canada doing missionary work. Since the Mennonites could speak German and He could speak German they became friends. One day he became a Christian and realised that he could never go back to his native land. The Mennonites worked hard and got him legally into Canada. Canada is a much richer place for both the Russians and Ukrainians coming here where they can live in peace.

They pushing for a one world government. For total control and world domination
@HumanEarth that's been the US policy since 1950. Deterrence, containment, total full spectrum dominance in every region - the population sure is totally passive! Fine with it even. It's a population that's a huge problem for humanity.
This entertainment is for the nation of aggression. It's gratifying to evil.

Like Russia annexing Ukraine.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@msros The difference is Ukraine had an army to fight with. Canada doesn't have any armed forces worth mentioning. It as a few antique CF 18s that are hanger queens waiting for parts to come from the US. I was in the supply depot at one of Canada's last operational Air Force bases. I looked at one crate. It said F18 engine. Property of the US Navy. I pointed at is and laughed with the supply clerk. "I wonder if the US Navy is missing an engine". She laughed and said that that is how all the replacement engines come for the CF 18s/
You must be looking long and hard for the pro American merger crowd. I haven't even seen any of that on SW, by Canadians or Americans. Have I blocked them all?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I am talking to the people I know in real life not on SW. I have no idea if the person on SW even exists or what nation they are from.
@hippyjoe1955 the thing about real life is it isn't chock full of keyboard warriors who desperately want everyone to know what their opinions are. If Canada had even a small minority who wanted to join the US, you can bet it'd be all over SW
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Yeah I don't know that and neither do you. Most people I know don't even know SW exists.

The Trump effect is working, that Clown has gone ...
BigGuy2 · 31-35, M
I believe, for some unbeknown reason, Anerica gives $1BILLION to Canada, if Trump stops that's tgey may think differently
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I think what he said about Greenland was more wild
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Moneyonmymind Greenland is a bit different only because so few people live there. Militarily annexing it would be no problem. Canada is a bit different insofar as most Canadians are the same people as most Americans. We have family and friends on both sides of the line. Many us have crossed the border multiple times and fully enjoy being on the other side.

@tenente Doug Ford is from Ontario and Ontario was founded by Americans who wanted to be British and not American. They were called the United Empire Loyalists and they were driven from the 13 colonies to the south and east. That heritage has continued in the near hysterical hatred of all things 'American'. Funnily enough the western prairies were settled by Americans seeking a better life. They didn't bring the anti American baggage of the UEL so places like Alberta are much more inclined to thing that being American would not be a bad thing. Witness the difference between Doug Ford and Danielle Smith. While Ford is bloviating Smith will be a guest at Trump's inauguration

@hippyjoe1955 Interesting! Premier Doug Ford is filling a leadership vacuum. Seems PM Trudeau disappeared...?

Quick question : Do you know why most Canadian PM are from Quebec? I looked up Canadian PM last 30 years and only one was from another state ( Harper, who was my fav PM )

I'm an engineer but I find history and politics fascinating. I know very little about Canada even though i'm 300 miles from Montreal lol
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@tenente No Ford is a blowhard. He has no real audience in Canada. He is almost as popular in Canada as Castreau. er I mean Trudeau.
