NY judge says Trump will face no penalties in his criminal hush money case but upholds conviction.

Not even a f*cking slap on the wrist!

Judge Juan Merchan should now resign, because it would be the height of injustice to fine or sentence to prison any other defendant that might appear in his court room convicted for lessor felony charges than Il Duce.

Now hang on a moment. The guy is pushing 80, A stroke waiting to happen and about to be stuck as President for 4 years.. The options for a meaningful sentence were limited..But the conviction now stands. He is a convicted and sentenced felon. And thats something he cant shake off legally (although he will claim it as a win). This is going to be used against him by someone, somehow. Maybe even his own side, to remove him..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman With all due respect, look into the trial
Presided over by judge Merchand. It wasn’t quite what the trial should have been ergo his daughter’s involvement .

@soar2newhighs I agree. But lets understand that being America is nothing like the rules or the dreams. Everyone is either powerful and rich, or not.. Everyone who said a single word against Trump is now going to be wondering if the FBI, the IRS or Billy Bob from Kentucky is going to come knocking on their door. How do we know this? Trump said as much and Project 2025 lays out how to get it done. I have my own thoughts on Trumps guilt or innocence. So do you. But that isnt what this is about. This is about fairness and Justice. Maybe as you seem to think, he didnt get it. But now he is coming for retribution and has a record of doing it.. But that isnt legal, unless you change the law. And I figure he and his people will.😷

@soar2newhighs What are you talking about?? You must be deaf in one ear and can't hear anything but 'Trumpist' rhetoric in the other. The evidence was there: People gave sworn testimony to it; IT IS the court that serves all Americans. (Now, I have my doubts about that).

At this point the judge only has ruled out jail time, which would be fairly consistent with a white collar crime of paying hush money and perfectly understandable when the convicted felon is about to be sworn in as President. While he has indicated other punishment is unlikely--and house arrest or community service is equally problematic for a President--he has not taken a fine off the table yet. And given Trump's overwhelming ego needs, the mere need to appear for sentencing 10 days before inauguration would be a major punishment for a man already fuming because the flags will be at half-staff for a recently deceased President while he is being sworn in.

@beckyromero (This leads me to the idea that Trump has nothing to appeal. Therefore it has to be accept ed and the convictions will stand. They in themselves are the lever for later use against him.)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman

He doesn't want to be known as the only president with standing felony convictions.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@beckyromero I am sure if we wait another thousand years or so there will be another.. Of course, there is a good chance he will be known for something far more extreme that will make people forget this..😷

Given Trump got away with an attempted coup and stealing top secret documents, this seems like nothin.
@JollyRoger Respectfully as I tell my Canadian friends; worry about your own government as you especially should right now because it is by no means a shining example of government and politics, instead of worrying about ours.
Don’t be taken down the primrose lane by the American alleged “ judicial” system.

@beckyromero When did you see TRUDEAU in my post.?

I was not inferring you are Canadian.
You can comment on anything you want.

Syria? I do because we still have a few hundred troops there.

Calm down.

When did you see TRUDEAU in my post.?

Oh, I guess because Trudeau is, you know, the head of the Canadian government. 😂

If your next door neighbor was constantly making insane statements and hinting at taking over other houses around you, possibly by force, might that not put you a bit on edge? 🤔

And such a waste of the jurors time that took time out of their lives to seek justice……
markinkansas · 61-69, M
ya get more time for stealing a candy bar out of a store.. just saying
What was his daughter’s involvement in the trial? So perhaps said judge realizes her involvement might come back to bite him? Regarding sentencing ( symbolic) and a deferring gesture to protect himself, no jail for Trump.
Just my opinion on this.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
should have made him give the money to the poor .. that would teach him a lesson
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@markinkansas

I'd have liked to have seen at least community service.

Make him wear a orange jump suit on weekends picking up the trash along the Dewey Thruway instead of leaving the White House to go golfing in Mar-a-Lago.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@beckyromero match his skin color
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Nope. Because he's not part of the establishment. And people find his no holds barred attitude refreshing. Sorry but it's true.
