Not sure I would call either one a hero. Both are murderers.
However one person murdered an annoying but powerless man in a moment of passion. Whereas the other murdered a powerful man with blood on his hands after diligent planning.
It is rather ironic that the murderer who acted more the psychopath was the veteran and the one who acted more the warrior was not.
