I'm from that heartland so I'll say it's not as conservative as people think it is.

The prairie provinces and especially southern Alberta are the conservative heartland. But there's pockets all over Canada.

@CountScrofula The prairies are an interesting situation. The cities like Winnipeg you can find the far left thriving but the rural areas are conservative.
So it is more city vs rural in Manitoba as opposed to some sort of homogeneous attitude across the province.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Same in Alberta. Calgary swings provincially but is conservative federally, Edmonton is centre left, and the rural areas are mostly conservative.
I live in small town Alberta and there's a lot more conservative voting than there is conservative ideology though. It's why I don't like painting this area as conservative.
