This predominates in US politics. The nature of the society seems to be that there has to be a winner and a loser, and winner takes all. The loser then blocks whatever at every step they can, delaying and reducing ther victory..As contrsted to compromise, where both sides get some of what they want and give up something. This wastes nothing and leaves both sides productive and not obstacles to the other..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman The difference being that these are internal GOP politics and bickering as opposed to cross party scrapping.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@justanothername I agree its more obvious and visible in thr GOP now. But there is still a war between the pirate kings going on in there, with the winner wanting all the treasure. Left V Right will be more like a civil war if it happens..And China will pick up the pieces..Its a shame to see a perfectly good nation go down the toilet like this..😷

Say what you will, republicans don’t cancel people. Dems have canceled me, turned their backs on me, refused to talk, blocked me, and thrown me out of church. Fat chance talking to a dem.

@whowasthatmaskedman The one sign of hope I have seen is the handful of Democrats who have actually signaled they see policy areas and cabinet nominees they where they think there is room for bipartisan compromise and working towards consensus. Primarily with the Labor Secretary, UN Ambassador, and Secretary of State. Sen. Elizabeth Warren even has shown willingness to work with Musk's DOGE assignment. Granted it is no where near the bipartisanship I grew up with, where both parties put away the electioneering and demonizing as soon the election was over and pledged support to work with the incoming administration--something totally absent in the last three changes of administration

I think you should think before you accuse me of aggressively defending anything. That is one of the many problems of the left, they don’t exercise introspection of themselves or what they believe. Like here, they jump right in with their cartoons.. I am beginning to think they think cartoons are everything. If I seem hard to you, remember there are a lot of reasons for that. Once lefties find out you are Republican, they won’t even speak to you.

@MarthannBann888 My remarks apply to the left and right. Although to me the right has less respect for the established rules. But those rules were written by white male property owners with an eye to profit. So its a built in bias..😷

@MarthannBann888 I'm just defending @whowasthatmaskedman.... Perhaps in your neighbourhood you were tarred for your political views and support of Trump, but on here: SW? Take a good read and you'll see that most of the BS remarks came from folks purporting themselves to be Trump supporters. I stand by what @whowasthatmaskedman says about a good country going down the toilet: The President can't rule by emotion only and Mr. Trump seems to have more negative emotions than anyone other than some dictators in 3rd world countries. Sure, the press passes it off as humor, but the negativity is palpable.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@JollyRoger I agree, totally. I thought @whowasthatmaskedman made it very clear he was speaking about both extremes. Neither is listening to either--or the vast majority of us in the middle of the ideological warfare--which is the main message from the election results, imho. Trump got no more popular vote than he did in 2020; more people threw up their hands in frustration and didn't vote. And the most common complaint was "no one is listening to me/us", or "at least Trump seems to hear me/us". In the solidly Blue states turnout doesn't make that big a difference, but in the key swing states it is crucial. They didn't think Hillary was listening to them in 2016, and ditto with Kamala in 2024 while Trump's base has remained pretty solid. (And, please, no twisting that into evidence that Biden stole the election in 2020 with phantom votes. If that were the case, why wouldn't they have done it all three years?)

@dancingtongue Thank you.. Its not about which side is right. But as long as one side prevents any advance by the other nothing will change. And the rest of the world is making some changes. (not always good) And overall they will be leaving the USA behind over time. America is no longer Olympus, the home of the gods.. Its just another fairly good country, in some ways..But mostly if you are rich..😷

Can you cite some research that would support your hypothesis that both liberals and conservatives are equally willing to tar and feather. In my personal experience dems are the only ones who cancel people, They cut them off from their families, fire them, demean their character and yell them down. Liberals ridicule republicans, gang up on them, and deny them any respect for their years of study. It’s disgusting.

@MarthannBann888 Sure. Lets see your research proving they are not. This aint my first rodeo Bubba..😷

Bubba, you are the one with the hypothesis. You are the one who has an obligation to support what you say. And, what you say is so vague, I am not sure you can do that.
Don’t you think, though, that the best interest of this country is a good opinion of its people. Are you so puffed up that you have to look down on us.

@MarthannBann888 I dont look down on Americans per se. Just your collective ignorance. Your economic and corporate policies and the justification of your legal system is at odds with the law and the stated aims of the Constitution and Bill of rights. Defend your case or get off the grass..😷

@JollyRoger Yes. Most Americans seem to have the same attitute to political leaders as they have to choosing a football team to support. The choice is not based on performamnce or principle. And cant be changed, no matter what.. Thats no way to run a country..😷

@MarthannBann888 And you have a right to your opinion..Since the constitution doesnt say anything about women voting, I assume that out of respect for it, you dont..😷
