What we need to do is to cut the Pentagon by 50%, the military industrial complex is the majority of the budget. We need to downsize the alphabet agencies, fire about 75% of the upper brass bureaucrats in each one. Then we need to cut out pet pork barrel spending projects politicians graft to their donors.

Social programs are NOT the problem, they actually account for barely less than 10% of the annual budget.

@NativePortlander1970 Nonsense. Defense spending has to increase in response to a new quadrilateral axis of evil spanning across the Eurasian super-continent. And the incoming government has already promised to deliver on a more robust DoD budget.
Besides, these are all suggestions for non-discretionary programs to partly finance the planned tax cuts and the expected growth in defense spending. That means a long overdue entitlement reform to address the structural imbalances plaguing both Social Security and Medicare would still be needed over the long term to put the US on a fiscally sound trajectory.
@CedricH So then, you would rather see war than peace
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 I‘d rather see victory than defeat and I’d rather see Pax Americana (which means American peace by the way) than one imposed by an autocratic anti-liberal world order.
@CedricH It's time we withdraw from NATO and the UN, close all of the foreign bases down and bring all of our troops home, let them fight it out with each other, their messes are not of our concern.

@NativePortlander1970 I always like to be insulted by treacherous isolationists who endanger not just their own life, liberty and prosperity but that of their countrymen and of the world at large. So thank you! :)
@CedricH Stay in Germany, us Americans are sick and tired of paying to protect you all while you all simutaneously thumb your noses at and criticising us.
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 Don’t you dare speak for the entirety or even the majority of your great country. You represent but a pitiful minority view on the political fringes. Your ranting won’t change your nation‘s identity nor any geopolitical realities.
@CedricH I am First Nations Native heritage, I am Native American by birth, I speak for my People. Your recent ancestors once tried to overthrow all of Europe, got defeated, and NOW expect us to protect you all from retaliation from a country you still proxy war with.
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 Give me a call once your „people“ sway electoral outcomes in the US. They certainly don’t represent the whole United States of America. As for my ancestors, as opposed to you I don’t believe in any spiritual links between me and the people who populated Germany 80 years ago. Our new Germany is a creation of the liberal world order that the US established and we‘re prepared to defend it side by side with the American people.
@CedricH You mean the global new world order that means to enslave the entire population into subjugation and forced servitude to one another.
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 My God. What are you yapping about? This is just disgraceful.
The world order I‘m talking about is one defined by the expansion of freedom, democracy, free markets and by great-power peace.
@CedricH i.e. 1984
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 Sorry, but you‘re clinically insane. 1984 is precisely what would materialize if you were in charge of US foreign and defense policy.
@CedricH We in the Americas, from the Arctic, to the tip of Brazil, and the Islands, will enjoy our prosperity, free from the conflicts of Europe and the Middle East and North Africa.
CedricH · M
@NativePortlander1970 Keep dreaming. I‘m sure it‘ll help you sleep at night.
@NativePortlander1970 I DIStrust anyone who purports to speak for anyone beyond himself.
