How significant is the recent escalation between NATO and Russia?

NATO is now allowing the use of American and British missiles in Russian territory. In September, Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer decided, after discussions, not to allow this. We can assume the reason is wanting to avoid escalation. Putin issued a very clear warning and they appeared to listen.

What has changed since then? It has only been two months. Russia continues to do well, which is not a change as Russian military has been doing well for over a year. Why is Biden, before he leaves office, allowing Ukraine to use these missiles? He knows what the potential consequences are. Starmer also knows what the consequences are. The deep state know the consequences. This can only be a way to try to sabotage Trump's presidency.

Do you think this escalation is significant? What do you think will happen?

@trollslayer Why do you disagree?

@SW-User anyone who thinks there is a “deep state” is beyond rational conversation. Might as well talk about reptilians or chemtrails.
@trollslayer Do you think the government is truthful to us all the time?

@trollslayer The “deep state” is less controversial than you think. Here is a definition:

Deep state

An alleged secret network of especially nonelected government officials and sometimes private entities (as in the financial services and defense industries) operating extralegally to influence and enact government policy.

Etymology of the word:

“Deep state” is a calque of the Turkish word derin devlet (lit.'deep state'). The modern concept of a deep state is associated with Turkey, a presumed secret network of military officers and their civilian allies trying to preserve the secular order based on the ideas of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from 1923. There are also opinions that the deep state in Turkey and “Counter-Guerrilla” was established in the Cold War era as a part of Gladio Organization to sway Turkey more into NATO against the threat of the expansion of Soviet communism.

Deep state exists all over the world. I can list numerous examples; it is time for you to educate yourself.
@SW-User There is at least some semblance of a deep state. At least.

@trollslayer Ya it's so obvious she has been influenced by conspiracy theory spread by Russian propaganda, talking to such people is a lost cause.

@SW-User lol. I suppose led by “Smoking man”? The concept originated from people who watched too much X files while smoking weed!!!
@trollslayer The concept of a deep state has always fundamentally been around but it was brought into the lime light after the effects of the Manhattan Project. It has been more prevalent and undeniable since. Recently, people have been conflating the concept with Trumpism. It isn't.

@SinlessOnslaught Government doing top secret stuff that the public and most of congress do not know about = not "deep state".

Organized group of non-elected persons controlling the direction of the country independent of the government = alleged "deep state".

The former happens and people know it happens whether they agree or not.

The latter is mostly either a fictional construct or a pejorative term in the United States to describe anyone who defies executive orders.

The key difference is - one is working with the executive branch, the other is organized to work against the executive branch.
@trollslayer Back then it wasn't something most congress did.

@trollslayer so, who do you think is actually in charge now? Do you think Biden is running the show??

@Nighttalker read the last paragraph of my post.
