‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan Says Boston Mayor ‘Not Very Smart’ After Vowing to Defy Deportation Mission
President-elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed “border czar,” Tom Homan, sharply criticized Democratic Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for pledging to block the administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants from her city.
During an appearance on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports” on Monday, the former ICE director called out the liberal mayor, stating that “she not very smart” for believing she could hinder his mission to carry out mass deportations.
“Well, she’s not very smart, I’ll give her that because what I just said is President Trump’s going to prioritize public safety threats,” Homan said of Wu. “What mayor or governor doesn’t want public safety threats out of their communities? That’s your number one responsibility; to protect your communities, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
Doubling down on his position, Homan issued an ultimatum to Wu: either cooperate with the Trump administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants in Boston or “get the hell out of the way,” warning that continuing to resist would put her in violation of federal law.
“So if she helps us, [or] she gets the hell out of the way because we’re going to do it,” he continued. “Look, there’s a clear line here. They can’t cross a clear line. I would suggest she read Title 8, United States Code 1324 III that says you can’t harbor or conceal an illegal alien.”
“So I hope she don’t cross that line. They can not cooperate, but there are certain laws in place that they can’t cross and I hope she doesn’t cross it.”
Homan’s remarks came in response to a statement Wu made on Sunday, where she vowed to use the city’s resources to protect all residents, including illegal immigrants, “in every possible way.”
