What mandate? At 49.9% of winning votes, Insurrectionist-Cry-Baby-trump hardly won in a landslide against Kamala Harris' 48.3%.
It's one of the smallest wins in USA history.

Yup, but it's still a win, and with both houses and SCOTUS, its still going to seem like a landslide.

@MistyCee Well, a bad date is still a date and a night out on the town, but even though it seems like you scored, you really didn't and pretending like you did only makes things worse in the longer term.
The election results might seem like heaven on earth to "the base," but they still are on the "regular" earth where the laws of gravity apply. So, yes it's a win, but no it's not a landslide win and that's not a mandate.
If 4 out of 5 people tell you, you scored because you got a date, that's a win... I suppose... but it still turned out to be a date that went wrong. Why not just face the truth and reality?

I just dont see Trump Supporters suddenly questioning their deeply held beliefs at this point, and I've long since given up on Republicans in Congress to cross Trump.

@MistyCee Well that's the point. The Republicans (and not just the maga ones) and certainly not "the base" are going to reflect on uncomfortable facts. But, despite your suspected desire to see them as invincible, they represent 49% of the voting public. Formidable enough to win an election... yes. But, formidable enough to dismiss the 48% rest of the voting public? I should say not.
@MarkPaul Sighs. You know it's not like I don't like what you're saying, but, the midterms are 2 years away, and that's time to accumulate a whole lot of stuff that's uncomfortable for everyone, especially with Trump already trying to figure out how to work around Congress more effectively.
I don't for the record, see MAGA as invincible as much as intractable, plus a bunch of other adjectives i'd rather not mention.
And, let's face it, I'm underwhelmed by the lack of Democratic leadership at this moment as well as disgusted by the Republicans.

@MistyCee Throwing up your hands, shrugging your shoulders, and giving into the exhaustion doesn't bode well for the future. The odds are against us... yes. All is lost until the midterms... no. Again, you can be blinded by the fact Insurrectionist-Cry-Baby-trump won and feel that's all you need to know. But, winning by such a small margin does reinforce not everyone is aboard the "KRAZY-KLOWN" car or wants to be. That is important. That is relevant. And, that is reassuring. Now, that is what we have. You can give that up... if you want and if you dare. I'm not willing to see that 50-50 margin as insignificant.
In a democracy, the majority does get to rule regardless of the margin of win. But, in a democracy, voters can be swayed and politicians (even dictator type politicians) are influenced by voters. In the curious case of Insurrectionist-Cry-Baby-trump he has a needy desire to be liked and not criticized. That may not be super-strong tool as holding a majority in all branches of government, but it's not nothing either. The bottom line is that is what the Democrats have; it's what they must use. You can feel defeated if you get something out of that. This isn't the first time you have expressed that attitude that has put us somewhat at odds.
As you must know, in life you don't always get what you want, you don't always have all the advantages (or any of the advantages), and you can always just give up because the obstacles seem insurmountable, intractable, or overwhelming. Or... you can fight on. The point of looking at the win-margin and acknowledging there is no landslide and there is no mandate is to fight on. Just a little less than half the country wants something else. If you have already given in and given up, then yeah all that matters is "they" won so... time to go into hibernation. In that case, we will see you when you venture out for the next election.
