They say Trump might be shifting the Overton window.
The Overton Window is a concept in political theory describing the range of ideas and policies that are considered publicly acceptable at any given time. Named after policy analyst Joseph P. Overton, it suggests that public opinion can shift to accept previously extreme or radical views if they are gradually introduced and normalized.
The Overton Window typically includes a spectrum from what is deemed:
Unthinkable – Ideas far outside societal norms, unacceptable to the mainstream.
Radical – Ideas that are extreme but have some fringe support.
Acceptable – Ideas becoming more palatable, attracting discussion and debate.
Sensible – Ideas regarded as mainstream, seen as viable options.
Popular – Ideas widely supported and encouraged.
Policy – Ideas that are adopted and implemented.
Shifting the Overton Window involves moving the public perception of what's acceptable. Politicians, activists, or media personalities may float "radical" ideas (sometimes as trial balloons or deliberately shocking proposals) to gradually acclimate the public, making those ideas seem more reasonable and allowing previously unthinkable concepts to enter mainstream discourse.

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays indeed that does seem to describe what Trump's been doing for years.
Outside of the political arena, it seems pretty akin to gaslighting.

That's why Il Duce wants recess appointments.
@beckyromero Is your word choice an attempt at irony?
Indoor recess

I thought for sure Trump's recess appointments plan would get him a cabinet to wreck the country with for awhile, but Gaetz as AG may torpedo even that plan.

That's business as usual. The Two Parties run it like a business - the real CEO isn't known to the public. You voted for that. The Dems appointed Kamala and they always over rule the public.

Recess appointments are only good for 2 years.
