I'm going to be leaving again soon. I don't know if it's permanent this time or not.

I'm sick of all the hate speech being allowed on this website. Most of it is from repeat offenders like Pat Kirby, who likes to show people pictures of a bundle of firewood (a "f@ggоt" — get it?)

But of course, the admins don't want me to report repeat offenders. They want decent people to just block all the repeat offenders so they have a little echo chamber where they can spew hate speech all day long without anyone complaining.

I don't actually care if this makes Andrew and Nuno angry at this point. It's the truth. If they actually wanted to get rid of the hate speech on this website, they could, easily. They don't want to. They want to encourage it.

You may want to consider just blocking them.

Internet discussion sites are generally full of hate. But at least SW has a partial solution.

@beckyromero That's the solution Andrew and Nuno want me to take. It doesn't actually make them go away, though. It just gives them an echo chamber from which to spew their hatred.

Look at it as if there's a chainsaw in the forest in the distance but you can't hear it. Is there. But are you aware of it.

Try blocking out the nasty stuff. You'd be pleasantly suprised how much less of it you will see right away.

It's a solution, imperfect, yes.

But what's the alternative? The way the Experience Project worked with tagging gangs flagging stuff they disagreed with and algorithms automotically using those flagging numbers to make victims' posts become invisible to everyone but them without the victim even knowing it?

I don''t want SW to become like EP became or what Facebook is now.

Yes, there will still be the hate speech, but fewer people will read it.

It's a flaw in the internet, but one that protects free speech and anonymity. No internet site with any decent amount of traffic can possibly pay enough moderators to filter thru everything. And automation of it just won't work with the current level of AI.

@beckyromero Do people still even use FB?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Punches I've been using Facebook Marketplace lately. I've even occasionally sold stuff.

@LordShadowfire I browse it once in a blue moon "just because".
The listings that say "Shipped to you", how would one know that someone is going to actually ship? Do they have any sort of protections in place like ebay does?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Punches I honestly have no idea. I don't mess with that aspect of it. If I can't go to your house, hand you cash, and receive the item, I'm not going.

@LordShadowfire That is the best way.

I heard that a lot of people try to scam with "Delivered to you". So yeah in person is best.
