America had a choice. How quickly we forget.
We all knew that when this election was over, we would know what type of country America was. The choice was clear. Now we know the truth. America is the racist, hateful country that history books that have not been whitewashed/edited for content, told us it was. The country was built by rich white men, for rich white men, off of the backs of ‘'the other, the less than.” The ‘'Big Lie” was “Freedom, Liberty, and Justice For All.”
“All men are created equal.” LOL! Sure thing, if you are a wealthy white land owner…if not, sorry, take these crumbs and be glad you have them.
How many years did it take before the slaves were freed…but then the failed ‘'Reconstruction” gave us Jim Crow laws? How many years did it take to secure voting rights for women and minorities?
Justice for all”…..well, not exactly. We have a legal system not a justice system. If you have enough money, the rules do not apply to you. Rules and laws are for ‘'the others” to follow.
The 2024 election told us what kind of country the USA is….no, it did not ‘'tell us” it actually "reminded us", those of us that refuse to turn a blind eye to the truth, that the country is racist, that fear and hatred and bigotry are all alive and well in the good old USA.
The struggle for a more perfect Union continues.
We have a country....if we can keep it.
I will NEVER give up. I will NEVER give in. I will NEVER bow down to the traitor and felon Donald Trump and his minions.
For those who love the film Casablanca, let me remind you of the final scene, and some dialog that, from a film filled with memorable quotes, this often overlooked gem.
As freedom fighter Victor Lazlo prepares to board the plane with Ilza, he tells Rick:
"Welcome to the fight. Now I know our side will win."
Rick represented the isolationist USA...a country that was hesitant to enter another war...but due to circumstances, entered the fight against the fascism and tyranny of the Axis powers.
Time to be like Rick.
Fascism and tyranny have now arrived here in the US, wrapped in the American flag and holding a bible (upside down). We survived Trump 1.0, now we face version 2.0, now more reckless, more unhinged, full of revenge and retribution....sadly, with more misguided citizens standing with him, seeking something he failed to provide them in his first term, and who will fail miserably again to give them....because he is only out for himself. He always has been. He always will be. For those who claim he has been sent by God, I ask that you read your bible. Have you forgotten the teachings of Jesus?
The struggle for victory over this orange cancerous growth that has returned to power will be more difficult to excise this time around, but let us not forget those who came before us, seeking to make America a nation "for all" and not just a select few.
