If he had them for years chances are neither had rabies. He might of been required to get rabies shots for the raccoon, but there has never been a case of someone contacting rabies from a squirrel.

I read somewhere recently about how the City of NY seized an internet famous pet squirrel and euthanized it, I was going to post it here but decided it was too depressing and didn't want to sadden other members.

@ididntknow PETA does the same with pets, they kidnap the animals then use the excuse they have been emotionally abused as pets to euthanize them.
