Moldova votes to join EU

Despite "unprecedented interference and intimidation by Russia and its proxies", Moldova backed proposed constitutional changes and a commitment to joining the EU.

In recent weeks money has reportedly flowed from Moscow. Ilan Shor, a Moldovan businessman living in Russia openly offered cash to Moldovans to abstain or vote against the proposal.

Looks like Elon Musk may have to dig a bit deeper into his pockets 😉

Another small nation lured with promises that is destined to just end up a cheap labour pool for the countries with real power in the EU.

And all they had to do is drum up surface level nationalism.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Modern European integration was built around coal and a shared objective to redirect German hegemony towards peaceful ends. Nothing to do with Russia.

Most economies are doing better in 2024 than they were in 2022 . . except Ukraine of course.
