Will fill out my ballot soon. Here is my strategy.

I am voting all non-maga GOP, and if the GOP candidate is MAGA, I am voting democrat.

Wonder how many Republicans I will be voting for?

I have, in the past, voted for a republican judge or two. Local positions. Not right now though. If the republicans regain power, they will manipulate any non maga rep to suit their agenda.
Every republican is suspect, or easy.
RedBaron · M
@Carla Then how do they get nominated?

I live in NYC, where the Republican Party barely exists, so you often see the same judicial candidates running simultaneously in the Democratic, Republican, Conservative, and Working Families (formerly Liberal) columns.

@Carla

In the future, I'll only consider a candidate who did NOT endorse Trump in 2024.

And I'd be suspect about most who did in 2016 and/or 2020 and then didn't come out against him in 2024.

It's pretty much now inconceivable that I'd vote for a Republican presidential candidate in 2028 or in the decade past that. Just about any Republican with a chance of winning the nomination is a Trumpet.
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
PreMAGA I would have considered the positions of Republican candidates before voting, but until the GOP throws them out once and for all I’ll be voting straight down the democrats ticket.
@Zaphod42 Sums up my position as well. Also, my donations to the Democrats have increased exponentially since 2015! Especially this year!
Probably not many. Where I'm at, no one, including Democrats, speak out much about MAGA for fear of repercussions, though. We've got a MAGA governor with a reputation for vengeance and irrational behavior that none of the local politicians can afford to alienate.
Carla · 61-69, F
@windinhishair disgusting behavior. And to be emboldened to act on those impulses is disturbing.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Carla remember when those mofos ran the biden bus off the road?
Carla · 61-69, F
@trollslayer i do. It is beyond words really. Disgusting. Disturbing. Abhorrent.
Those never quite express those actions.
Unless there is some sort of strong allegations of significant wrong doing or corruption against a Democratic candidate, I would strongly recommend voting straight Blue. The Republican candidates who aren’t endorsing tRUMP are often doing so only to distance themselves from him because he is unpopular in their district. There aren’t too many (and nowhere near enough) Liz and Adams in the GQP.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@KunsanVeteran If there was a GOP candidate in a red district that was vocal anti-trump, I would consider that to be a character asset.

In my area, there would have been about a half dozen GOP I would have considered. Some I even voted for in in the past. But they all lost in primaries to the ultra-maga-tinfoil-hats. A few of them are quite sad cases - incumbents who seemed like decent people who got death threats after they refused to buy into Trump's election lies. Some got scared away, others faced ugly lies from MAGA opponents and lost in the primary.
@trollslayer Yeah—that’s how Dirty Diaper Donnie’s brainwashed cult members roll…
I have voted for independents and republican governors in the past, but I won't risk a vote for any MAGA affiliated people.

@sree251 says
I have no interest in US politics but ...

trollslayer · 46-50, M
@sree251 Way to be part of the problem, dipwad.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@trollslayer Your problem?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
You won't be voting for any Republicans at the state or federal levels. There might be some local candidates you could vote for.

I'm in the same boat. I always split my ticket up to 2016, but starting in 2018 it is straight Democratic unless it is a Republican I know personally and can vouch for their integrity. That would be two people.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
A "non-maga GOP" candidate?

They've gone way of the dinosaurs.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@beckyromero True. Most decided not to run this time. And some got ditched from the partry. Basically anyone who said "No" to Trump.😷
Ynotisay · M
Could very well be zero Republicans. You're with us or against us. That's the strategy.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Republicans have cynically attached themselves to Trump to use him as a road to power. Trump lost the 2020 election. If he loses the 2024 election the R's will mostly abandon him as being ineffectual.

Attaching themselves to a would-be dictator who instigated a violent treasonous attack on congress is NOT excusable.

And that’s confidential, nobody’s business but your own.

Easy pull the all blue knob!
Bill1372 · 51-55, M
No one cares
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Bill1372 Every single vote against the Trump Cult and MAGA is worthwhile. People care deeply.
