We'll send millions to Ukraine but we dont have enough to help our citizens down in Florida who are losing homes from the hurricane. And if they do get money they need to apply online where there is no wifi or electricity. America is a joke.

This is patently false. Try wriggling outside of your rt wing news silo for once in your life.

@ScarletWitch What's sent in Ukraine is old military hardware whose worth amount to the millions/billions you see reported.
Unless you think deploying a cordon of Iraq-era Bradleys on the Floridan coast and threatening to shoot at Poseidon will do the trick, that'll hardly benefit Floridians.

@Elessar Alot of it is. But there is also billions that are just going into the pockets of billionaires in Virginia for contracts 5, 10 years in the future that almost certainly won't happen.
Also each bradley is roughly 30 tons. What is the fuel cost to ship 300 of them?
And the optics of funding billions into a losing war alone is an issue.

@Elessar The issue is most of the billions never actually leave the US but are a wealth transfer to weapons dealers in Virginia that could go elsewhere.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And Bradleys don't cost billions, in fact. Transportation costs are part of the package.
Either way a Russian strategic win will cost America more on the long run than whatever the total sum of the various aid packages amounted to. It's a lesson they should've learned more or less around the time of Pearl Harbor.

@Elessar first of all I wasn't even talking to you. I was talking to vin53. But your comment back at me was unnecessary rude.

Fema's disaster relief budget for the year expired at the end of September and the agency is currently running on temporary funding while Congress negotiates a new annual budget.
If need be congress will have to drag their asses back into session and work out new funding for FEMA

@Vin53 IDK man. All I know is they were on CBC claiming they are basically broke because of Helene.
Vin53 · M
@ScarletWitch Well you do get your news from somewhere and its obviously a rt wing outlet so yeah, my assessment remains accurate.

@Vin53 Well maybe you should have your people in government get that straight before going to the media.
The endless ranting about RT is by definition implying they are a Russian troll. It is not as clever as you think it is.
Oh an during the Cold War the US government actually translated soviet media so you could read it in English.
Now the "patriotic" thing is to live inside the boundaries of State Department press releases exclusively. Might want to think about why that is?

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Not RT, rt as in right wing.

@Vin53 Fair enough. That being said looking after your own society instead of bombing places you can't find on a map has usually been a more left position.

Two things can be simultaneously correct, and the third thing can be tangential.
Fact: US agencies are running out of funds allocated by the GOP Congress to respond to natural disasters, due to the extreme season we're having.
Fact: The Administration is allocating additional funds, as needed to respond.
This is a once in a 100 years series of events, and no amount of preparation can address all scenarios.
Fact: The right wing MAGA circles have been using misinformation and fake news, to try to convince people that the Biden administration is purposely ignoring Red states' disaster needs. This is simply not true, and Marjorie Taylor Greene is parading around with a map trying to prove that Democrats directed the storm to hit red states.
Tangential: while the US is sending weapons to Ukraine, it's not going to help hurricane victims, if they receive shipments of tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, planes, artillery pieces, and ammunition. And that's because Ukraine is not receiving money, it's receiving surplus US and European military equipment. And that's the part that MAGA is using to "fudge" and score points, by claiming that hurricane hit areas should receive the "money" allocated to Ukraine.
Does this help clarify the situation?
