Florida Republicans are trying to raise the voting threshold needed to pass abortion reforms from 60% to 66.667%

Clearly, Republicans are all for devolving powers to individual states, provided those states will then do what they want.

The legislature passes the laws. A constitutional amendment isn’t required. However the libs are going try constitutional route to attempt to prove a ridiculous point. Not the first time. Likely not the last.

@jackjjackson So why are the Republicans doing their best to raise the voting threshold for this piece of abortion legislature to pass?

Not what’s occurring. @SW-User

Why are the dems trying to kill the Us Senate filibuster? @SW-User

@jackjjackson Nice deflection. I'm not playing ball.

Tell me what IS occurring then, because it seems to me that the bills that have recently been passed, such as the use of medical marijuana, a $15 minimum wage, and restored voting rights for felons, seems to point to the general population of Florida actually being more liberal than the Republicans would like. And, of course, they do NOT like this upcoming abortion bill either. They're essentially betting on a conservative third of the population to veto what the majority of the public actually wants.

Ni deflection at all. Harris’s proposal is no filibuster for abortion legislation however with a red Senate majority it becomes irrelevant. You brought up weed I didn’t. You can’t generalize a population regarding ALL issues since the major of people today are issue by issue voters. BTW Harris’s statement that all red states have total abortion bans without exception is blatantly false. Every red state abortion law HAS exceptions. It will shock you to know that several blue state abortion laws are more stringent than red state abortion laws. The blue’s emphasis (you) should be one getting blue control of state legislatures instead of dreaming up variations of Machiavellian falsehoods. Check the facts. Harris is LYING to YOU. @SW-User

@jackjjackson DEFLECTION again.

Explain WHY you think the Republicans in Florida are trying to raise the voting threshold from 60% to 66.667% in order for a bill to pass.

Not deflection since I find literally zero news saying what you wrote. Please direct me to that (if it actually exists). @SW-User

This has come back into the news again because of the abortion reforms that are seeking to allow abortions up to viability rather than 6 weeks.

If you don't think this is important, you clearly haven't seen just how tight the polls in Florida have suddenly become :)

Should Florida constitutional amendments require 66.67% to pass? Republicans make the push

As I mentioned from the get go this doesn’t have to do with passing legislation is had to do with constitutional amendments. 2/3 is required for amending the US constitution and the same in most other states. You’re simply trolling in a lame attempt to muddy the waters. Harris is a lousy candidate, can’t speak extemporaneously and has no policy at least. Or one she is willing to disclose. That is downright shifty. No thank you.

@jackjjackson deflecting to Harris, yet again, when I never mentioned her.

But not in Florida. MAGA/GOP are very keen to devolve powers to the states, why not let Florida keep its 60% threshold? Oh wait, because otherwise some liberal amendments might get through, and we can't have that, can we?

And, by the way, I have a diagnosis. You have:
