No. Most celebrities live in a world that’s insulated and disconnected from the reality of the average person. Their opinions a therefore irrelevant to me.

If I didn't know much about a given politician and did know a lot about a celebrity's politics, it's possible that would play a factor in how I might vote.

For example, there are Republicans that are running for office endorsed by a former TV reality show star. I might not know a whole lot about a newcomer Republican running for say, state senate or the U.S. House of Representatives. But I might know a whole lot about the politics and views of the former TV reality show star. So much in fact that if I found his politics despicable I would be highly inclined to vote against the politician running for that state senate or House seat that the former TV reality show star endorsed.

Not based on the celebrity alone, the candidate's platform, or lack of one, is what causes me to choose a candidate to vote for.

@calicuz

How much time do you spend studying a candidate's platform or that of his/her opponent?

How much time do you think the average person does?

Have you never bought a product in any way not influenced by a celebrity?

Endorsements do matter. Whether by celebrities, politicians, newspaper editorial boards, talk show hosts or your next door neighbor.

@beckyromero

I didn't mean to imply that endorsements didn't matter, I just meant endorsements didn't influence my vote. At the same time though, an endorsement by a certain celebrity for the opposing candidate doesn't influence my opinion of that celebrity. Neither does an endorsement cause me to like that person or "the wares they are selling," any more than previous. For example, Taylor Swift endorsing The Vice President, doesn't make me like Swift's music any more than previous.

That’s funny you said that .. because I used to work for Taylor Swift .. and after I told her I’m voting for Donald Trump I got Deported!! Make it make sense !!

Only if the celebrity agreed with me. I am not influenced by celebrity.

Maybe. Which celebrity? Which candidates?
Yeah, but not because of the endorsement.
depends on the celebrity...
AnonymousUsing · 26-30, M
No. I'd vote for camps.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
No. I actually have a brain and I know how to use it. I make my own choices. Depending on the celebrity their endorsement could push me to the other candidate.
