Republican: Make It Harder to Vote, We Win

GOP lawmaker: Making it harder to vote 'is our opportunity to win'

Rep. Brian Steil (R-WI) argued Sunday that passing a bill making it harder to vote was Republicans' "opportunity to win" the election.

In an interview on Fox News, Steil said he wanted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to combine the so-called SAVE Act with a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government. The SAVE Act would make it more difficult to vote by requiring a passport or birth certificate to cast a ballot.

"I don't think anybody should be afraid of a shutdown," Steil told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. "What we need to do is attach the SAVE Act to the CRs, the last train leaving the station, put it in the lap of the Senate and force them not only to keep the government open until we can win in this election."

"Passing the CR with the SAVE Act, as the Speaker is trying to do, is our opportunity to win the election and secure the election," he added. "I think we have an opportunity to pass the legislation that the Speaker has put forward and jam the United States Senate to both secure the election and keep the government open such that we win the election."

@Vin53 Nineteen foreign nationals face federal charges in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina for illegally voting in the 2016 federal elections, according to federal charges publicly announced on Wednesday. These charges are the latest indictments to result from an ongoing years-long federal criminal investigation being conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Raleigh office.

A federal grand jury in Wilmington charged seven foreign nationals on August 31 on federal felony charges including falsely claiming U.S. citizenship or making false statements on voter registration application, and with misdemeanor charges of unlawfully casting ballots in the 2016 presidential election. Non-citizens are not eligible to register to vote or to vote in federal elections under U.S. law.

@sunsporter1649 19. Good job. Those 19 votes had no impact on the election results.
Prosecute according to the law.

Who did they vote for?

@JSul3 The U.S. Department of Justice said an illegal immigrant has reached an agreement to plead guilty to charges related to stealing a U.S. citizen's identity to vote in multiple elections and fraudulently obtain an American passport.

Angelica Maria Francisco, a 42-year-old undocumented individual who most recently resided in Russellville, Alabama, is facing a nine-count information filed in federal court for false claims of citizenship in connection with voting, false statements in application for a United States passport, use of a United States passport obtained by false statements, and aggravated identity theft.

A plea agreement was filed as well, indicating that Francisco has agreed to plead guilty to all nine counts, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama Prim F. Escalona and Resident Agent in Charge Joseph R. Wysowaty of the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Atlanta Resident Office announced on Thursday.

Francisco is accused of assuming the identity of a U.S. citizen in or around 2011. Prosecutors say she used the false identity to get an American passport in 2011. She then allegedly used the passport to travel to and from her native Guatemala in 2012, 2015 and 2018. Using the same identity, she allegedly also registered to vote in Alabama in 2016, before voting in the 2016 and 2020 primary and general elections.

@sunsporter1649 Happened in Sept. 2020....they voted in 2016.

Who did they vote for?

@JSul3 Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that state officials have criminally charged 20 people for voting while ineligible during the 2020 general election. The alleged fraudsters are now being arrested, DeSantis said, the highest-profile move yet by the newly minted Florida office tasked with policing voting.

Flaunting the Office of Election Crimes and Security, rolled out in early July, DeSantis said during a press conference that the individuals were convicted of murder or felony sex offenses, which by Florida law stripped them of their right to vote.

"Yet they went ahead and voted anyways. That is against the law, and now they're going to pay the price for it," DeSantis said at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale.

@sunsporter1649 Bravo! 20 out of over 10.6+ million votes in FL....00019048%.

You see sport, nobody denies that some vote illegally and that those who break the law should be held accountable and if found guilty, should be charged according to the law.....but to say massive voter fraud exists that changes the results of the election is BS, and you know it.
Vin53 · M
@JSul3 Exactly. The difference between rogue voters and a coordinated effort to subvert a national US presidential election is not remotely alike.

@JSul3 "Cite ONE documented case! You won't though."

Wonder who said that....

@sunsporter1649 You recall the Trump voters in PA that voted illegally?

@sunsporter1649 Accused of isn't the same as found guilty of chuckles. If you were any kind of American you'd know this.

@sunsporter1649 Can you tell me who they voted for?
Vin53 · M
@JSul3 He can't tell you who HE voted for.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@JSul3 This is the thing. In the few cases where actual voter fraud has been perpetrated by individuals, no result has been effected at all. Now lets not talk about a taped phone call to Georgina looking for nearly 12,000 votes..😷

@sunsporter1649 You mean lawyerspeak for "We dont want to count that vote." I get it that ou value your own opinion over Democracy. And frankly I am fine with that. as long as the system you put in its place is more effective. But wanting to cling on to power just because its there and then not being able to do the job yourself is absolutely wrong. Not to mention inefficient..😷
