One of the reasons why Trump has overachieved his polling in each election is the 'shy trump voter's.
I think it's exactly that a minority of Trump voters have strident liberal partners and don't want their partner to hear them tell the pollster who they are voting for.

@Burnley123 Perhaps, yeah, but it's nonetheless a consequence of populist radical politics. It happens there because their situation is similar to what we had (well, have) here - the more evident the shortcomings and extremisms of the party, the more voters in the closet you'll get.
They don't want to get publicly identified with someone who's already staged a coup once and whose platform is openly about taking away everyone's rights, but in private, once in the voting booth they'll still absolutely cast a vote for him because they still support whatever he does/say.
Both the Tories (minus maybe with Truss), that I know of, and Berlusconi as well, were nowhere as radical and the phenomenon as you say could be observed. In America it'll be even more significant, I think.

@Elessar There are plenty of analogies to be drawn between countries but done things are just different.
Shy Tories were afraid of being seen as selfish by putting their bank account ahead of society.
About 40% of Americans absolutely despise trump to the point where they see anyone who votes for him as being a bad person. Maybe no politician anywhere has ever been as divisive for a country.
Also, that women are more likely to vote democrat means that these shy Trump voters are almost certainly men. Probably men in the mid-west, where voters are more mixed. These are also the battleground states!

@Elessar nothing radical about populism when that is a movement that supports the majority...unless you're against democracy

🤔............LOL that's not the way it works in our relationship...........Politics NEVER comes between us.......Neither of us would ever tell the other person that......

Neither candidate has any plans for advancing people or reducing inequality in our country. Neither one is feminist.
The trick is to be okay with that. You're doing great.

Oh no, the becky has spoken. The men are terrified! The male Trump supporters are fleeing in fear!
How devastating it will be when their Trump hating, liberal women leave them. Are these really dire consequences?
If only men could vote, we wouldn't be in such a mess.

Nobody will ever influence my vote...And that vote is for Trump.

I agree 100%. I've already been lobbying my American girlfriends about this very issue you speak of and you know what? They agree with me (with you!).

I think to your point, misogyny toward women (and men) is still and always has been a character flaw of Donald Trump's since his adolescent years and all he did as a Presidential Candidate in 2016 and now again in 2024, was bring to that Presidential Race the anti-female baggage he'd been carrying on his back for his entire life, more so than Kamala Harris or Hilary Clinton being causal factors for misogyny existing in any US Presidential Race.
Donald Trump hates men as much as he hates women, which is why Donald Trump has no friends whatsoever, including those non-family members who comprise his inner circle.

What's your point? Did you understand my post or do I have to break it down into smaller pieces for you?
