What are some differences between British and American politics/politicians ?

In the U.K. Labour and Conservative parties have a party platform all members must adhere to. In the U.S. Democrats and Republicans don't have a distinct party platform. There are divisions within the parties, liberal Republicans, conservative Democrats, etc.
