Prigozhin died a year ago today
I nearly missed the anniverssary of his death. He's the only guy I've actively sought after with the intent of turning over info on his location to have him intentionally droned, I strictly stick to finding hostages, but he uniquely pissed me off. Wagner in general does too (especially in Africa), but I'm sticking to hostage location as my thing.
And had I found him, yeah, Ukraine would of droned him, and Putin would be sad, but we would of missed out on that fun day when he marched on Moscow, and came to the remarkable decision to back off last moment and walk around acting like everything was okay, like it was all a practical joke of some sorts between old buddies.
I was just looking at that.... like.... you can't almost invade Moscow and threaten the freaken Czar then back off and go on about your business like nothing happened. Putin is so going to kill you.
And I get the reason he backed off. He didn't see signs of getting enough political support so as to set up a government. If Putin merely fled, Prigozhin would of been screwed with loyalist forces coming out of Ukraine to retake Moscow. The oligarchs/boyars weren't going to resist Prigozhin, but nor were they ready yet for a boyar rebellion to back Prigozhin. That will come a bit after the war. They were uncertain then but fantasizing about it, but now more and more have seen what Prigozhin almost did and realize it might just work if done under the right conditions.
First time will look stable, but expect it to happen a few times. Expect more losses in those wars as alliances are drawn and redrawn than anything Russia has lost in Ukraine.
Prigozin's insane audacity lead to many war crimes, but it also lead to a comic ending. One that won't be forgotten by the russian people for a thousand years. If this was the 19th century he would of had four tragic operas made for him by now. You just gotta admire his balls for walking around in St. Petersburgh and Moscow like everything is okay as Putin aplits his mercenary army up in Belarus. Putin is hyperventilating trying to rescue his throne and plotting Prigozhin's desth, Prigozhin is mindlessly sitting down and eating spagetti like nothing is wrong. Nothing is wrong at all, not a care in the world. Remarkable.
