@couchpotato: Yep, it was. But at least with the WMD we knew he HAD had them before cause he used them. But it just goes to snow how intelligence is mostly guesswork. I don;t understand why the dems think its in their interest to play this out,it's going to turn people off and it's clear there was no tampering or meddling with the actual vote. So what if we found out Hillary and co were even worse than some thought. That's not why she lost.

@Katielass: yeah, i find it comical how the "experts" are trying to figure out how she lost, especially since their "polls" showed otherwise..I just shake my head and laugh at their stupidity and ignorance

@Katielass: And they still had WMDs. That part of the intel wasn't wrong. What was wrong was the idea of an ongoing WMD program. It wasn't.

But Saddam still had WMD tech in place to restart when there weren't so many eyes watching.

@Booyeah: Well, that may be true, IDK, but I think the war was a mistake.

@Katielass: Well they found thousands of chemical weapon artillery shells and bombs, but they were leftovers from the Iran-Iraq war of the 80s. They also found ballistic missile tech made illegal by UN resolution.

@Booyeah: Yes, I understand all that but what did we really accomplish? saddam and his raping idiot sons are dead. We could have sent an assassin to do that. And frankly, while Iraq was stable when bush left office how do we know it would have remained stable? How many gave their life for....nothing. And I do mean noting cause look at the place now. Utter chaos. islamic state growing and spreading like a wildfire. I believe it was a mistake.

@Booyeah: I understand that position but we wold have had to leave at some point. and my point is, unless we stayed forever we have no way of knowing if things would have gone bad the day after we left.

@Katielass: Except we knew things were going to go bad as soon as we left, because we didn't stay long enough. We didn't occupy Japan and Germany for a few years, we were there for decades.

@Katielass: And the same holds true for the Phillipines, which actively resisted our occupation post-Spanish/American war. But we publicly declared self-governance and predetermined a date for the end of our occupation 40 years in advance, 1944. It was only delayed because of WW2.

@Booyeah: Yes, I now but Americans no longer want to occupy for decades.

@Katielass: That's irrelevant. If the goal is stability, occupation must last for decades.

@Booyeah: I agree with that ut if Americans don't want to occupy for decades hen we should not be invading to begin with.

@Booyeah: I can't argue with that. I don't know the answer but I do know this. No matter what we do it will have consequences, some bad, some good. And you can't really say we should never invade again because that last one was a mistake. You cannot compare two situations, all things are not equal. All we can do is our best with what we know at the time. I personally believe that no matter who we elect, war is coming. The jihadists are hell bent on war with us and they will have their way. One way or the other.

@Shattered: Looking back, I have to say it was a mistake. We were never going to have any long-term alliance with Iraq. Iraq would never support democracy. Plus, Iraq hated Iran. Saddam Hussein would of had the guts to stop Iran's nuclear program.
