This is more complicated than either side is pretending. And it highlights the issues inherent in someone being "assigned" a gender.

@sarabee1995 I disagree with the two sides thing, I agree with the assignment problem.
The point of my post here is highlighting that the vision saying there's only two genders, and that one's gender depends solely on what's between one's legs that is strongly pushed by the right, Rowling, et al. isn't congruent with reality, and in this specific instance it came to bite them (I'll argue, if they didn't believe it was a MTF athlete before realizing she was actually a biological intersex woman, they'd all have been quiet).
