You mean the genetic male who the Olympics changed their rules for to be woke? Raises some interesting questions about just how to make competition fair.

@ChipmunkErnie funny how no-one batted an eyelid when these two athletes also competed at the Tokyo Olympics…
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SW-User No idea what the situation there was. I wouldn't know or care about it if not for the social media coverage today. A person has the right to present themselves as whatever general they desire in general life, but when it comes to physical/athletic competitions I'm on the side of genetic testing and an even playing field. Sometimes that is hard on participants, but that's life.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie Using the same criteria, Michael Phelps who has a genetic predisposition that makes him fitter for swimming shouldn't ever have been allowed to compete. Withdraw all his medals too.
Or does it apply only to sex related attributes?
This entire thing seems much more political than it is about fair play.

@Elessar Yes, it ONLY applies to sex divisions -- IF a competition is divided into male and female divisions, then the divisions should be based on genetics. Or, to be really fair, all competitions should be open to everyone of all genders/sexes, but that would eliminate an awful lot of female athletes from competing.

@Elessar it’s pure political point scoring. If these two athletes truly had an advantage they would be driving all before them. They’re not.
The sad fact is that Carini let the controversy get inside her head and was all over the place before the fight even began. What boxer allows themselves to be hit in the face when they’re on their game? The fact she was muttering “it’s not right” proves she wasn’t thinking about the fight. @ChipmunkErnie

Elessar · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie And the division was indeed respected, because both the athletes are biological women playing in the women category.
Exactly the point I was making.
Yes, it ONLY applies to sex divisions
So this entire shìtshow is purely political clownery that has absolutely zero to do with sports and fair play.Exactly the point I was making.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SW-User I've seen dozen s of fighters be hit in the face during matches -- nothing unusual there.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie Exactly, nothing unusual here. Just a political clownshow.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@Elessar So, if a male has gender-changing surgery and becomes "biologically a woman", it's fair that he should compete with his male musculature against "born" females who do not have that muscular advantage?
Elessar · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie No, that's in fact the entire point: she's "born" female and you're suggesting she should play as a male?
Sport categories are based on biological sex and this athlete is, biologically, a woman.

@Elessar Last time I looked, genetics was considered a part of biology. What you're talking about is external appearance, which may or may not reflect the genetic and/or the mental gender.
BohemianBabe · M
@ChipmunkErnie
This person was assigned female at birth. She has typical female biology, the sole exception being XY chromosomes, which are rather rare for females.
Soooo... is gender just what is in someone's pants now or what?

Elessar · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie That would be a change that needed to be discussed before, and not during the competition. Again, biological sex is what determines the category, not genetics. And this has been the case since forever.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe Exactly, biologically speaking 100% a woman using the TERFs' definition of woman lol

SW-User
@ChipmunkErnie The fact remains her head wasn't in the match because she was clearly thinking about the controversy surrounding her opponent. Khelid was far from invincible.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Elessar Can you stop using the term "TERF"?
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
If XX or XY chromosomes make no difference in sports when someone becomes trans-sexual, then we should be hearing about trans-men winning athletic competitions against cis-men.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for some strange reason, we don't hear of such cases.

Duh. You only watch far-right media. They're not going to talk about trans men beating cis men because that destroys the narrative.

Very interesting, Boo-Boo, but not a word about Patricio having XX chromosomes in your link.

@Thinkerbell Well he was assigned female at birth, most females have XX, so I'm guessing he does too.
The truth is, chromosomes matter, but not nearly as much as the overall hormone wash. That's why biologists classify sex based on hormones, not chromosomes or body parts. So it's possible to change both your gender and your sex.
But this is a problem for you Nazis. Nazism, like all Fascism, is biologically essentialist when it comes to race, gender, and sometimes class. The existence of queer people debunks the concept of gender-based biological essentialism. That's why y'all have to suppress queer people.

@sarabee1995 Wait, what's the problem with the acronym?

@BohemianBabe
That's right, Boo-Boo, you're guessing.
And as long as we're guessing, I think it's more likely that he's XY, or perhaps XXY, and maybe has genitalia that look female, or maybe he's intersex, we don't know.
One thing we do know, Boo-Boo, is that Patricio seems to have run into a real opponent in his 4th pro fight. Patricio got knocked out in 21 seconds, so maybe he is XX after all.
