I think in very carefully judged, isolated cases, and not for the intention of sex change, puberty blockers should be allowed, such as in a case of a extreme neurological syndrome or extensive brain or bodily damage where you gotta manipulate normal biological functioning for a minor. I literally can't think of a single actual medical situation, but I wouldn't want to prevent a highly intelligent doctor from using medications under such a circumstance. But I think most who would try for that exemption would try it for ideological reasons and just for a sex change on a minor.

@Dignaga Or maybe let MDs make the decision instead of random public opinion based on politics and feelings.

@Dignaga Not to mention the entire point is to avoid gender reassignment surgery for minors so the very idea that it is promoting such surgeries is frankly ass backwards.

If it could be proven that the effects of such medications are totally reversible I'd be happy to share your position on their use.

@onewithshoes That is not how burden of proof works. You and OP are the ones that claim they do irreparable harm with zero evidence to support that claim.

@onewithshoes They work by blocking hormones, literally the same way birth control pills work. The only difference is the targeted hormone and the biological function controled by said hormones.
They are no more likely to do permanent harm than a teen girl on the pill.

I only meant to call attention to the obvious finality of cutting off body parts.
The long term effects of pharmaceuticals can only be known through long term observation.

@onewithshoes Cutting off anything is irrelevant because puberty blockers have nothing to do with that.
Anyone who thinks it does doesn't know enough about the subject to make an educated statement.
Again, you and OP are the ones claiming the pills do permanent damage. There is zero evidence to support that so I require zero evidence to dismiss that claim.
And lets cut the crap. This is about conservatives feeling uncomfortable this has nothing to do with caring about the health of anyone.
Especially when we know not treating gender dysphoria results in large numbers of suicide and self harm.
And to be blunt if you listen to the words of many people behind this purely political movement they know this and are totally cool with suicide among trans youth skyrocketing.
Some even imply that is the point.
There is also the problem that people will also be forced to go looking elsewhere and start using dangerous stuff like "bathtub estrogen" without any medical supervision.
Just like refusing to give pain patients legal meds under doctor supervision caused a spike in heroine use.
This issue is not going to go away. It will just push people to self harm or to consider more dangerous options.
