Armed Homeowner Turns the Tables on Armed Intruder in Kentucky
A self-defense incident unfolded in the early hours of July 20, 2024, in Trigg County, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Austin Gardner of Cadiz. The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 has identified Gardner as the individual who entered the residence of Cody Parker, 21, also of Cadiz.
The Kentucky State Police received a call shortly after midnight, requesting their assistance from the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a shooting at a home on Linda Lane. According to preliminary investigations, Gardner forcibly entered Parker’s residence, armed with a weapon. During the confrontation, Gardner forced his way into a room within the home, where Parker, the homeowner, acted in self-defense and shot Gardner. Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene.
