Axios Caught Red-Handed as it Claims That VP Harris Was Never ‘Border Czar’

A left-leaning news outlet is facing heat after attempting to backtrack on an article it wrote years ago reporting that Vice President Kamala Harris was never appointed “border czar” to oversee the U.S.-Mexican border.

In an article posted Wednesday titled “Harris border confusion haunts her new campaign, “Axios tried to claim that Harris “never actually had” the title of “border czar.” Instead, they insisted that it was conservatives who coined her that.

The outlet said that Harris was appointed to handle the Biden administration’s coordination with Latin American countries about dealing with the issue of illegal immigration.

Axios, however, referred to Harris as a “border czar” in several articles, mentioning the title in articles about her work with Mexican and Guatemalan officials.

“Harris, appointed by Biden as border czar, said she would be looking at the ‘root causes’ that drive migration,” the outlet wrote in an article dated April 14, 2021.

Harris received the role in early 2021 but did not visit the southern border until June when she arrived in El Paso, Texas, sparking outrage among Republican lawmakers.

“I’ve asked her, the VP, today — because she’s the most qualified person to do it — to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that help — are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border,” Biden said in March 2021.

“This increase has been consequential, but the Vice President has agreed — among the multiple other things that I have her leading — and I appreciate it — agreed to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept re- the returnees, and enhance migration enforcement at their borders — at their borders.”

Harris herself admitted that the border was her responsibility.

“Needless to say,” Harris said in March 2021, “the work will not be easy. But it is important work.”

After two weeks in her new role, Harris had still paid no attention to the border, Post Millennial reports.

She did communicate with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei via phone about reaffirming their “commitment to addressing the root causes of migration by combating corruption, promoting economic opportunity, and enhancing civilian security.”

Her office reported that the vice president wanted to place her focus on the causes of migration instead. A CNN report said that Harris’ aides started to “panic” when she received her new role, stating fears of her not performing well.

After being tasked with the border, the U.S. experienced record levels of illegal immigrants entering the country. They have been provided free food, shelter, cell phones, money, and more. In exchange, they have caused increased levels of crime, including brutal murders of Americans.

Since Harris has unofficially been presumed to have taken over Biden’s presidential campaign, Axios appears to have tried to erase any traces of any type of reporting that could paint the vice president in a negative light.
She was given the duties by Biden; she failed miserably. Despite her lamentations of “
Don’t come, don’t come”. They still came. It wasn’t about titles, it was about her obligation to function effectively. She did not.
