1) He incitwd January 6th attempt to overturn an election. That it was a dismal failure that they me does not forgive the children ntent. He also was recorded ordering a state official by phone to 'find me more votes.'

2) He lied extensively in an attempt to de-legitimamise the previous election. His base believed him, despite the argument not having a factual basis.

3) Hungary. Those who compare Trump to Mussolini or Hitler have it wrong because the most relevant examples is what Viktor Orban has done. He was elected peacefully - not by force - and Uber a decade set about rigging the state. institutions and the media to benefit the Fidez Party. Orban is a fan of Trump and the feeling is mutual.

Hungary still has elections and allows opposition parties though sine opponents have been jailed. The courts and media operate unashamedly in the ruling party's interests and that concentration of power is continuing to entrench.

He engaged in a ridiculous legal challenge using "alternate electors" When Pence turned him down, there was a violent riot that was poorly handled and has never been fully investigated. After a few hours of Trump trying to get support, he gave up, and told his supporters to go home. They did. Then he left peacefully at the end of his term.

2. Lots of politicians lie to their base about their election results. See Stacy Abrams and Hillary Clinton for examples.

3. Sorry man, I'm not familiar with European politics. It sounds like you are saying there is a right wing authoritarian running Hungary and you believe the courts, media and political elites conspire to keep power for him. You seem to believe the same would be true under Trump.

Honestly, sounds like the Democrats for the last 4 years. They've been weaponizing the media and US prosecutors to go after Trump and his supporters.

@SumKindaMunster My point is: rightwing authoritarians rigged the courts. With the current US Supreme court, that hardly needs doing but there is a democratic deficit there already.
Poland is another example where this kind of thing is happening. It's a weakening of existing liberal democratic norms If democracy and dictatorship exist on a continuum, this is the slide.


You admit that Trump tried to overturn an election but don't see it as a big deal. He gave up, only after the attempt failed.

Here's the thing about the court cases against trump. It's only a conspiracy if the charges are false. He did tell Michael Cohen to pay a porn star hush money and he did try to overturn an election. He did take official documents to his home and then refuse to give them back. There is no precedence in recent US history for a president doing this. Why do you think he shouldn't be prosecuted?

I said it was ridiculous and a legal challenge. He had the right to attempt to try this even if it wasn't going to work. That's neither a coup, nor an insurrection. Point of clarity, he got this idea from the Democrats in 2016 because they floated the idea out there first...getting alternate electors to "vote their conscience."

If the BALLOT was cheated.....why didnt anyone else on that same ballot complain it was rigged.....after those Republicans won on that same ballot? If the BALLOT was cheated why wasnt every Republican who won a seat in Congress called into question by trumpers too?
