USA has never been a democracy; it is a federalist constitutional republic, with checks and balances to prevent being a democracy. Just because it has similarities enough to democratic systems doesn't make it a democracy. Not even Canada where it is a (parliamentary) democracy can people get voted into office by popular vote, unless it's at the municipal and/or county level.

Peaceful transition of power is central to our system of government. Trump is a would-be dictator who wants to suspend the constitution and turn the U.S. into an oligarchy ruled by a corporate elite. We fought World War Two against ideas like that. Remember your patriotism.
