I guess we are ignoring that this approach to politics is how the world is in this mess to begin with.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And your solution is what? Change horses midstream? Get rid of Biden from the Democratic ticket and desperately try to find somebody to replace him before it's too late?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire Change the system.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
We didn't get rid of Feudalism by hoping for a better king.

@LordShadowfire Or put differently. By definition you can't solve systemic issues by kicking the can down the road 4 years.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, that was specific. Thank you for the coherent and intelligent plan.

@Patriot96 Not if we vote for the guy who's not going to implement project 2025.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire As usual you ignore the obvious because it doesn't fit your view. I am a leftist, not a liberal. The answer is obvious but it is messy.
Voting is the most pointless form of political involvement in a rigged system.
But you can keep voting for the least awful option forever and then 15 years later you can act shocked that your choices are Richard Spencer or David Duke.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I'm glad you live in Canada, but I do wish you would stop discouraging people from voting. You're harming my country just by saying it.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire I am not gaslighting people and giving them false hope by pretending political theatre is real change.
It is a great way to pretend "vote blue, no matter who" will save the US while doing nothing actually useful to improve the country.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Yeah, you're right. We should give up and let Trump win the election. That'll solve everything. Thanks for the great idea.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire And again you go out of your way and pretend there are no other options.
But sure. Keep pretending there is no other options and pretending the guy who was VP during the "We tortured some folks" administration is Noam Chompsky.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow *there ARE no other options.
*Noam CHOMSKY. It’s a family name, not a mouth activity.
Now what other options are there?

@RedBaron You do know the history of the US? If people in the 1770s followed that logic the US would still be a British colony.
RedBaron · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow No sh*t, Sherlock.
But what other practical options are there between now and November?

PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@RedBaron And anyone who knows that and then talks about being "practical" just means that you are cool with the status quo and are virtue signaling about wanting change.
Because in this case "practical" means no doing anything to make meaningful change. It means don't rock the boat.

RedBaron · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow But you’re not proposing any alternative, so what’s your point?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Didn't think I needed to state the obvious. Systemic problems need systemic and almost always revolutionary changes. But most people fear that because it is messy.
RedBaron · M
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Ok, now you are deliberately ignoring what I am saying and being dense on purpose. I am done.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Oh, you're done posting BS?
RedBaron · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It’s clear that you’re just full of it and saying nothing of substance.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Umm no. You are determined to ignore what I am saying because you clearly are totally cool with the status quo but virtue signaling about wanting change is good for optics even while you actively work to undermine any discussion of actual change.
RedBaron · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Ummmm yes.
