From west Africa to Hawaii they've rejected NATO but NATO wins?
LeopoldBloom · M
@Roundandroundwego How did Hawaii reject NATO? Hawaii is a US state and the US is in NATO.
Also, I don’t think the countries in West Africa are able to join NATO even if they want to.

@LeopoldBloom your right, he talking nonsesne
@LeopoldBloom In a De Jure sense, not much stopping other coubtries from joining that are not European. We do have a clause suggesting it's european only, but anyone trained in Aristotelian Logic would point out this doesn't preclude a North African state from joining if everyone in NATO unanimously agrees. And a number of countries across the Maghreb after the fall of the Soviet Union did apply. Russia also applied to join NATO.
I personally have debated about Georgia, Armenia and Azeribaijan joining. Turkey would be on board easily for the Azeri and probably Georgia, less for Armenia. Since I debated this Georgia has opened up to France. I think a strong economic union between Turkey and the three caucasus countries would have to take place, and of course the Azeri and Armenians need to stop fighting, and Georgia needs to root out the Pro-Russian elements (US ussd to have a transportation unit in Georgia and Turkey rented a airfield in Azeribaijan for troop processing to Afghanistan. I believe (pure deduction, haven't bothered to search for it) they are likely still using it to drone strike villages in central asia.
I can't imagine NATO proper advancing farther east than the Caucasus. I doubt Russia will hold territorial integrity flr more than a generation given it's mech and tank corps have been systemmatically hollowed out in Ukraine. Into west africa I don't imagine the Sahel would be very welcoming given what France did to the region, it's all part of the Russian Empire now.

@LeopoldBloom many people there resent the military presence and the rimpac "games". There's a Hawaii sovereignty movement.
@Roundandroundwego the hawaiian soverignty movement consistes of a single trailer at the back end of Waimanelo on Oahu, with several billboards telling the white people to go away. I know, I was there. It's right under the large powerlines coming off the hillside. They are the seperatist movement, both of them. The Alaskan seperatist movement rivals them in size.

@Dignaga wow...just wow.
Bro, please read up on the history of the Caucasus, Turkic Nationalism and Pan-Turkism. Then read about the Armenian Genocide. Then tell me if you think the Armenia wants to be led by Turkey and Azerbaijan.

@basilfawlty89 I know the history of anatolia from the Hitties to the present, and my Greek Orthodox God Mother was heavily into the Armenian Genicide and the Turkish Occupation of Cyprus. I also extensively followed The Hurriyat Daily until Ersogan's troops took it over, and know a few Kurdish archeologists. Not to mention at one time I was considering joining the YPG (I got a nasty bellybutton hernia) when ISIS was invading.
I think Armenia can be convinced to join eventually if it means peace with the Azeri and stability with Turkey. That's basically what happened with the feuds in Europe after WW2 with the Marshall Plan. Everyone was given a combination of economic incentives and coercive force to join hands together and stop their rivalries.
You ever read about the Turkish siege of the Armenians at the Roman fortress of The Eagles Nest? That's the last time I heard of a roman fort still in jse, fell just over 100 years ago.

@Dignaga sounds like you totally know the trasks. Mililani called me a friend, Haunani called me a pip squeak.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Dignaga that's grand, but are you aware that Pan-Turkism is still the dominant ideology of Azerbaijan and that Pan-Turkism was the cause of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire?
Azerbaijan just recently ethnically cleansed Karabakh's indigenous Armenian population after starving them for months following the 2020 war where Azerbaijan was supported by Turkey.
Why do you think they'll suddenly stop hating Armenians and why should any Armenian trust the Turkish government or the Turkic Azerbaijani government?

@basilfawlty89 The Azeri are Turks. And yes I am aware of the evacuations.
I not only do Open Source Intelligence and nearly live news feeds of wars around the planet, I also study history and ancient philosophy and military strategy and works on statecraft. In other words, I comprehend the region more than you ever will. Only way region enters NATO is as a triad, and already under a Turkish common market.
Feel free to bring up old Soviet news paper clips, or of Turkey's Ottoman Empire mechanized invasion of central asia right before it collapsed, or of Kurds tossing Armenians on spears, or of Turkomen blowing up bunkers in Manjib, or Iranians screaming about defending Armenia from the Azeri. I know it already. Fuck, I know their medieval history too. I'm literally that guy who stays up all night reading this stuff. And I know other parts of the world too, and other subjects as well.

@Dignaga I wouldn't call starving a civilian population for 9 months then invading militarily so much an "evacuation" as ethnic cleansing.
Again, good for you that you know all this. Bit if you think that Armenians are Turks are gonna be bffs and Turks will stop wanting an Armenia without Armenians, you're living in a pipe dream.
The only Turks who are even marginally supportive of Armenians are leftist Turks.

@basilfawlty89 Hence why the region won't be in NATO anytime soon, if ever.
