@RachelLia2003 how so?
@RachelLia2003 Starmer's Labour isn't even socialist, never mind communist

@RachelLia2003 What is Commonism?

I have heard of Communism but thankfully the UK is very far from that - and the last Labour Governments (under PMs Blair then Brown) were almost more Conservative than the Conservatives in some of their policies!

What this one will be like we will have to find out, won't we?
@RachelLia2003 The UK really isn't Communist. And that's a good thing.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Rachell's profile does not reveal her nationality but her comment suggests American.....

Many Americans seem to think any country that has much more comprehensive state welfare, education, etc., systems than their own, is "Communist". On their scale, Sweden must be verging on being a North Korean vassal!
@ArishMell Yes, they do have their very own definition of Communism, don't they 😅

@BritishFailedAesthetic Sorry - I miss your joke.

However, NO!

The primary definition of a Communist state is that of one of very hard-line socialism based on Marxist-Leninist theories, and governed as a one-party dictatorship.

Although the true Communist nations do have their own interpretations of that - the Kim dynasty controlling North Korea even coined "Kimilism" for theirs!

Even though the post-WW2 Labour government was quite Socialist in its ideals, it was very, very far from being Communist.
@ArishMell No, I wasn't joking. I know we have never been or aren't Communist.

Americans seem to even weak left policies Communist.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Ah - I wondered why the laugh symbol!

Yes, I have seen some of their delightfully genteel and insightful discussions on their own politics...

I think the USA's Left-Right spectrum generally is somewhat to the Right of the spectrum to which we have become used to in the UK and around Europe; but the European spectrum is widening itself.

..

There was an interesting point made by one speaker on Sunday morning's Broadcasting House; to the effect that we don't go calling the election stolen if our favoured party does not win, nor see a mob invading the Palace of Westminster; nor did we have thousands of Police and even the Army put on stand-by (as happened in France). Instead our leaders accept the results in a civilised manner, and he said, the changeover is marked partly by removals vans in Downing Street!
