It just means that Labour organised its campaign better (or, at all), compared to 2019. You don't get a majority by stacking up more and more votes in about 200 constituencies.

@Persephonee The media led a very effective campaign against Jeremy Corbyn in 2019, and Boris Johnson was very popular. At the time, the media portrayed him favorably.
