@samueltyler2 If I remember how accounting works, if the $2 billion is paid up front but not earned until the service is delivered it would be like with insurance premiums. Trump gets the $2 billion and books it to liabilities, then incrementally moves it from a liability to earned revenue as services is rendered.

For influence peddling, it was likely likewise booked as a liability, and since no one wants to admit what was rendered in exchange for that money, the money gets to remain a liability forever and that's probably the basis for son hunter never paying taxes on that money. Corporate income taxes are paid on earning and not on money received. Sounds like Hunter is between a rock and a hard place. He's either a tax cheat or an influence peddler/
