at least one of the points that you are making are points that are made by joseph campbell in the power of myth, which is that myths were real to the people of the past and that they influenced the experience of life. if those same myths no longer have that captivating inspirational quality, our religionists will blame the followers and not the myths themselves. we do have the power of myth in our modern society but dont recognize it that way. we dont have a good mirror to see ourselves. i'd rather discuss in private than in a public forum where every now and then, some stubborn person tries to insult me instead of arguing with me, and the discussion does not help anyone improve their lives.
