I've reduced my withholding to 0 & still owe
My income has gone down not up
So why in the hell do i owe federal taxes

@pdockal Do you not understand withholding? That is simply prepayment for the years taxes. When you file, you might get some back or pay more. Some folks confuse paying more at the end of the year as their taxes, but not what they have withheld, it seems.

If claimlzero dependents MORE is taken ut in withholding. Presumably, overpayments come back at the annual filing.

Federal taxes support federal highways, defense, education, agriculture, soc sec/medicare, etc etc. Services not easily done by individuals or local/state govt entities.
