Houston Pizza Delivery Driver Fatally Shoots Armed Robber

A robbery attempt turned fatal early Sunday morning when a food delivery driver was forced to defend himself against an armed assailant at 3322 Yellowstone Boulevard. The incident, which occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. on May 12, 2024, will be reviewed by a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased suspect’s identity has yet to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The delivery driver, who was unharmed during the confrontation, cooperated fully with law enforcement, remaining at the scene to provide a statement.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan, the driver was making a delivery when confronted by a male suspect who brandished a firearm and demanded cash. In response to the imminent threat, the driver, who was armed, shot the assailant in self-defense.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been notified, and the case is set to be presented to a grand jury to determine the appropriateness of the shooting under Texas self-defense laws.

Investigators are currently searching for a second suspect involved in the robbery, described as a black male wearing a white hoodie, who fled the scene with the delivery driver’s backpack.
