The latter I’m afraid. The problem being that no one can agree on what is a fact. People only accept information as factual when it supports their already deeply entrenched point of view (aka confirmation bias.) So one side presenting their proof to the other side is pretty much a waste of time and the arguing akin to a dog chasing its tail around.
