It puts Jack Smith in a bad position. By slow walking the trial and holding hearings on multiple non-issues months after they were raised, she avoids making any rulings that Smith can use to get her removed from the case. She is betting on Trump being elected and pardoning himself and rewarding her for her undying loyalty to him. It is a sad situation made far worse by her pandering.
@softspokenman Not really. Judges have broad discretion in their decisions, which is by design. I'm sure Cannon's Circuit Court sees problems with her handling of the case, as does Garland, but the Circuit Couprt can't do anything until she issues a ruling that is appealed by Smith. And by not making a ruling, Cannon can delay things almost as long as she wants. She certainly has delayed this beyond the election, which is what she and Trump want.
I think this stands as a perfect example of American justice. First that this judge can make these rulings without being pulled back into line by superiors. And more importantly, without her superiors even being requested to remove her from such an important case.. Even if you believe its just incompetence, it should be treated as grounds for a retrial if a defence attorney failed so badly..But we dont believe its just incompetence...Do we??😷
@whowasthatmaskedman The lifetime appointments that were intended to provide society a moderating voice insulated from the whims of political parties have been exploited a partisan tool to leverage power. With a few decades of partisan gridlock in congress, judicial appointments are now the number 1 issue when it comes to party goals. Trump got elected partly because people disliked the "Clinton" name, but the main motivating factor had to do with McConnell refusing to hold Garland to a vote for the vacant SC seat. Republicans saw a golden opportunity to appoint two pro-life justices to the SC under Trump, tipping the balance for decades and overturning Roe. I personally know of a few people who can't stand Trump but voted for him specifically and only for this reason.
What's funny is that right-leaning media has sung the "liberal activist judge" narrative for so long that it is ingrained in the average voters' brain, yet lately the courts are more likely to uphold and push conservative views.
@trollslayer I have no problem with a lifetime appointment as such. I would feel better if a peak body of lawyers sat on the appointments, rather than politicians. And if peer revues were conducted as audits..😷

If Billy Crook murdered someone in Kansas, embezzled a $million in Nebraska, raped ten girls in Vermont, robbed a bank in California, and kidnapped your kid in Texas don't you think he should be prosecuted for those crimes in those five States? If not, which crimes would you ignore?
Can you explain what benefit you personally get from kissing the orange traitor's ass? If you actually believe in the America creed you would hold his ass to the fire like all of the other criminals across America. I'll bet that if he shot each member of your family in their heads in front of you, you would excuse him.
