Do you think it irresponsible of the Irish and Spanish premiers to recognise Palestine?

The Palestinians haven't even recognised their own state, the one designated in 1948 by the United Nations, which means they recognise the state of Israel, and is the only unratified agreement out there, since, after the war all state-recognitions have been done through the auspices of the UN. Just as all 'legitimate wars' have been backed by the UN. So how can these two countries, members of the UN go outside of the mechanisms that everyone has been investing in, because of internal political pressure..

It seems more a gesture of support. The only issue with the U.N. is the extent to which the US will continue its support of Israel with its “veto” power. Otherwise, Israel has always ignored the U.N., and will continue to do so.

@Fukfacewillie You sound antiIsraeli?

@Smidke I am actually a Zionist. The U.N. is held in low regard by Israelis, especially because of its recent reluctance to recognize sexual violence by Hamas.
