@pdockal No, you're wrong, prices are FALLING!!

[sep][sep][sep]
Electronics: There have been some big drops in prices in a few major electronics categories. The price of computer software and accessories has declined by 8.5%, while smartphone prices are down 12% and televisions have dropped over 9%, according to Nerdwallet's reporting.

Home goods:
Per the Journal, "home-goods prices soared during the pandemic’s nesting phase but have since fallen back to earth," as "prices for bedsheets, towel sets and other linens slid nearly 10% in October from a year earlier." Other home goods-related areas where prices have declined include living room furniture, lamps, and wall décor, per the Journal.

Sporting goods and toys: Prices for toys and sporting goods (think bikes, camping gear, tennis gear, etc.) are lower, too. "Toy prices fell nearly 4% in October from a year earlier," per the Journal, and "prices for sporting goods were down 1.2% in the same period."

Transportation: Gas prices are almost 11% lower mid-November compared to a year prior, while airline fares "were down 13% in October from a year earlier," according to the Journal. Additionally, per Nerdwallet, car and truck rental prices were down 9.6%, and public transportation costs had declined by almost 9%.

Food: The once astronomical cost of eggs has dropped by a whopping 22.2%. Other declining food prices include for lettuce, apples, butter, and fresh fish and seafood, wrote Nerdwallet, [/quote] [sep][sep][sep]

Actually, @pdockal, the point here is that cherrypicking is the just lying by misleading with partial truths. The difference between you and me is I admit it when I cherrypick, and you don't.

The truth is that the pandemic profoundly altered the world's economy, including post-pandemic inflation, and it's absurd to try to blame the post-pandemic inflation on Biden.

@ElwoodBlues The fiscal crisis of 2021 was the result of Quad Indicted’s disastrous policies, exploding the deficit, destabilizing our national security, and mishandling a pandemic.

Bidenomics turned the Quad Indicted recession/depression (which affected the economies of all developed nations) and resulting in the USA leading the world as the economies rebounded.

Despite the worthless GQP House not being able to do anything except rebel against their own party’s miserable excuse for “leadership”, President Biden has managed bipartisan wins on infrastructure (which Republicans who voted against it are quick to try and steal credit for), job creation, CHIPS Act, funding for our allies, student loan forgiveness, health care, and escalating drug prices.

And we would have had the most significant border security/immigration bill in history if dummy Donny hadn’t killed it and tried to blame the Democrats! What’s more, that bill, too, was successful because President Biden can work across the aisle even with the most dysfunctional GQP House in history!

@pdockal says
I don't cherry pick
Yet your previous source gave an average increase of 46.22%, while your newer source says CPI is increasing by only 3.1%, well within the normal range.

If not cherrypicking, how do you account for the difference between 46.22% and 3.1%???

Also, why is it that when right-wingers talk about economics these days, they studiously ignore the most important economic stats — those relating to JOBS???

Trying to talk about the economy without talking about record low unemployment and record high employment, that's another form of cherrypicking, isn't it??

[sep][sep][sep][sep]

The Covid jobs recovery is complete and then some
And yes, these are the same statistics that Trump used to crow about.

@ElwoodBlues Once again proving that old adage “ignorance makes the MAGA’s convictions stronger!”

ROTFLMAO!

@ElwoodBlues

OMFG .... nothing is normal about the current inflation which is up overall . ...
I think it costs a family 10k more a year just for groceries ... if you think that's normal your truely ********

Remember different sources give different numbers based on their bias Yaya why i tend NOT to use them but that's all you know which doesn't make anything you pay correct

If something goes up let's say 50% then drops 10% you seem to think inflation is going down which is proposterous
@pdockal I use the CPI, the same measure Trump used to brag about. The "headline" CPI (Consumer Price Index) includes energy, food, rent, and a weighted market basket of over 200 items. And yes, 3.1% per year is quite a reasonable level for it.

BTW, you didn't address the fact that the post pandemic inflation was worldwide; attempts to blame worldwide inflation on Biden are just silly. And you didn't address the amazing job numbers; continuing to grow past the Covid recovery point (yes, Trump used to crow about the job numbers too)!

pdockal · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues

do you ... really energy is down ... then why am i paying more @ the pumps each week since IDK february ?????
Core services is up 4% and thats good ?????
Core Y/Y% is over 4% & thats good ?????
What about headline ?????
your graph shows that most items are still more expensive then last year

With mortgage rates hovering just below the 7% mark, there hasn’t been enough movement to incentivize either prospective buyers or current homeowners to pursue refinancing options. However, a notable turning point looms ahead, with prevailing expert consensus pointing towards the Federal Reserve initiating rate cuts come June, with expectations of three cuts throughout 2024. (dont hold your breath with expected cuts). With inflation running ultra-hot, mortgage interest rates surged to their highest levels since 2002. According to Freddie Mac’s records, the average 30-year rate jumped from 3.22% in January to a high of 7.08% at the end of October.

average gasoline prices for the years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 NEVER ROSE above $3 and dipped blow $2 several times
average gasoline prices for the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 were the lowest in beginning 2021 but still above $ 2.30 and steadily rose to almost $5 and now they are almost $ 3.50 and have risen each month since beginning of 2024
@pdockal
your graph shows that most items are still more expensive then last year
Yep, as I've said, the CPI is rising about 3.1% annually, which is no big deal. The sky is NOT falling.

Oh, I see you want to give Trump credit for falling gasoline prices during the pandemic. You think he deserves sole credit for that one little silver lining, but you think he's 100% blameless for all the BAD aspects of the pandemic. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
pdockal · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues

OMFG
the prices under the pandemic were low ... but under TRUMP the never went over $3 regardless of the pandemic
as it didnt get here till his 4th term

this is like talking to a rock
who cant see past his own nose
im sure youll find every excuse but the policies of the current administration to blame for the higher gas (& all prices)

That's just your illogical wishful fantasy. Post panemic world wide inflation, and you think you can blame it all on what, one cancelled pipeline?? That's so childish!!

pdockal · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues

That was just one example since you need that

But I'm done talking to a block
Not worth my time especially when you can't see what's right in front of your face

Keep making your excuses
@pdockal I guess you didn't understand that natural gas is included in the energy component of the CPI.

You didn't address the fact that the post pandemic inflation was worldwide; attempts to blame worldwide inflation on Biden are just silly. And you didn't address the amazing job numbers; continuing to grow past the Covid recovery point!

Blah blah blsh blah ............
@pdockal So you didn't understand that natural gas is included in the energy component of the CPI!

You also didn't address the fact that the post pandemic inflation was worldwide; attempts to blame worldwide inflation on Biden are just silly. And you didn't address the amazing job numbers; continuing to grow past the Covid recovery point!

@pdockal Desperate for the last word, aren't you? It's fitting that all you have is nonsense, LOL!!!

So you didn't understand that natural gas is included in the energy component of the CPI!

@ElwoodBlues We know, gas has fallen to $3.74 a gallon, from a high of $1.82
@sunsporter1649 Oh, look who's cherrypicking NOW🤣😂
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues Name a product or service that is not affected by the cost of fuel
pdockal · 56-60, M
@sunsporter1649

Don't bother
He's one of those
Can't see what's right in front of him
Makes excuses not based in reality
It's fun getting him going
I get a good chuckle from him
@pdockal @sunsporter1649 A cement head.
@sunsporter1649 It's all measured by the CPI, dude!

Cute how you want to give Trump full credit for low fuel prices during the pandemic, and yet pretend he had nothing to do with the pandemic severity in the US, LOL!!!
