Who would want to put themselves forward as speaker of the house right now?

Republicans seem obsessed with ousting their own members rather than getting on with the job of passing bills.

Passing bills to do what?

IMO, the malicious bomb throwers have grown too numerous and too powerful for anyone in the Republican party to even keep the lights on.

The good news is that Democrats and some Republicans are trying, and that there are actually some issues, like Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine which cut across party lines.
@MistyCee Russia is an enemy and I can see lending Ukraine money to keep the fight going. Israel used to be an ally, but have gone rogue and become nothing more than a terrorist state, and the US should end all support.
@independentone I'm not 100% in agreement with you on Israel, at least in the long run, but I really wish we had a functional Congress addressing both issues, instead of talking about space lasers and what kind of distractions they can do to influence the next election.
@MistyCee Unless Netanyahu does as he is told, the US should end all weapons and support. If Israel wants to go it alone, let em, but with no support of the US
@independentone I would love to see a more stable middle rest with less bloodshed, and less Netanyahu and right wing zealots in charge on Israel for that matter, but cutting off all US support for Israel seems like an awfully big move.

It might even be the right one, but I'd want lots of people exploring the ramifications before making it.

Even Newt Gingrich is disgusted with them.
@beckyromero I saw that. It's like we're living in a dystopian novel sometimes.
