Remember when Israel bombed USS Liberty?

Seems this pattern by IDF goes back a few decades..,

Yes -- air and torpedo boat attacks by Israel forces on the US Liberty, an NSA "spy ship" in international waters, killing 34 Americans. There seem to be lots of twist and turns in accounts of what actually happened.

@ChipmunkErnie indeed. But the point is, Israel claimed “mistaken identity”, just like they are here. Maybe Israel needs more optometrists.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@trollslayer Or maybe war really is hell and we should stop expecting it to become something neat and clean like a CGI movie?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie idk. When one army consistently has the same problems, perhaps something can be done?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@trollslayer ALL armies have those problems -- the big difference is that when it is a Jewish Army the world goes nuts -- meanwhile the Russians are doing worse in Ukraine and the outrage is a resounding silence in comparison.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie so you want to put israel down to the same level as russia?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie why do you insult israel like that?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@trollslayer Is it THAT easy for you to miss my point?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie nope. I get it. You think we should judge Israel in comparison to russia. Russia has been universally despised by the west for decades. You are stating we should not hold israel to a higher standard, the standard they want to be in by calling themselves “the most moral army in the world”, and instead judge them based upon the standard of the universally despised russia. Fair. So russia indiscriminately bombs ukraine and tortures people, and the west criticizes them for it. That means it is okay for Israel to do the same?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie Resounding silence? Gee, most of the world has put strong economic sanctions on Russia for indiscriminate shooting and torturing opposition. That is "silence" to you?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@trollslayer Sanctions from one side, increased trading and aid from the likes of China, Korea, even India if I remember rightly. And yes, silence in the sense that there is so much anti-Israeli/anti-Jewish propaganda going on here in the US but very little obvious outrage at the acts of Russia. When was the last time you saw a Russian attacked on a US campus, while Jewish students currently go in fear every day.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie if you got out of your bubble, you would see that israel largely gets a pass from the western world, and has for years. Any other country that has acted like that would have been sanctioned. As for kids going to school in fear, i’d be willing to bet there are far more incidents against muslims or black people the past 20 years. Sad all around, and definitely not unique to Jewish kids. As for russians? Not many of them here, so IDK.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@trollslayer You mean if a country, say, got attacked by a bunch of Saudis and reacted by killing a few hundred thousand Iraqis, they might get sanctioned? I do agree with your final statement -- you don't know.
