trump is just 3 weeks from becoming the first ex-president to go on trial and on prisonable offenses.

But despite all trump’s efforts to slow down simultaneously running legal clocks, there’s now a real possibility one of the candidates on the presidential ballot could be a convicted felon.

Former President Donald Trump will stand trial April 15 on charges related to hush money payments meant to cover up claims of marital infidelity?

Is marital infidelity in America a mortal sin? What's the crime here? This stuff is really deep in the barrel that the US Justice Department has been digging to prevent Trump from becoming President again.

And what did Trump do? And who is the woman this time?

@sree251 actually for many religions, it is a mortal sin. There’s countries that punishment by death has taken place. Of course, mostly the women. It’s the cover up that’s on trial and how Trump went about it. Not the sin!

@sree251 Trump isn't being charged with marital infidelity. That is not illegal, and everyone knows Trump has been repeatedly unfaithful through his multiple marriages. He is rightly being charged with the falsification of business records to conceal payments made to yet another of his extramarital romps. There are 34 criminal charges--one for each falsified record.

If Trump didn't want to be charged with falsifying business records, he shouldn't have falsified business records. It is as simple as that.
@sree251 He didn’t care if that third rate porn actress he’s married to found out. He was covering up the affair so the voters wouldn’t find out. This puts the payoffs in the category of felony election interference.

Election interference? The alleged cover up was in 2016 prior to Trump's first bid for the presidency.

At any rate, it involved legal fees paid to his lawyer. Whatever transpired was between Trump and his lawyer, a confidential matter between attorney and client. What's the big deal here?

@sree251 As incredible as it may seem, Trump was running for president in 2016. He started in June 2015. You do remember his campaign, right?

Falsifying business records isn't the same as legal fees paid to his lawyer.

Falsifying? Says who? His lawyer's accusation is legally inadmissible. Also, his lawyer has been convicted of lying (perjury) to a Congressional Committee..

@sree251 These charges are not about Trumps behaviour. They are about how the payment was made, and the attempts to disguise it for tax purposes as a business expense.😷

Really? We are talking about $130,000 paid to his personal lawyer. The IRS is not going after Trump. The New York District Attorney is. What's going on here?

@sree251 Its called FRAUD. And the state collects taxes as well

@sree251 The criminal counts are for falsifying business records, so the prosecuting attorney says so, and has evidence to back it up that satisfied a grand jury. His company has already been convicted and fined almost a half billion dollars for other business record crimes in a separate case.
